Gravel isn’t anywhere close to the leagues best goalie.. he’s behind Mercer, Rousseau, St-Hillaire there’s a reason why no contender picked him up He's absolutely close. I guess Ruccia sucks...a contender didn't want him. I'll pile on like everyone else wondering where the hate comes from. All of these goalies are excellent for contending teams. The issue with goaltending is exactly this scenario. Many are good....even very good. Stick them on certain contenders and they look excellent. But none are them are likely pro caliber, they're late bloomers or too small. But at this level at 19 and 20 they stand out above the undeveloped and unchallenged 16 and 17yr olds who mostly look lost at the Q level thanks to their lack of proper development along the way. I don't see how you wouldn't basically have all the guys you mentioned on basically even footing. They're all veterans who you can win with. They also all have flaws that put them in the Q this year.

Gravel was picked up by Baie-Comaeau last year and took them to the league final. M Rousseau couldn't even get his team out of the first round last year. He may not be the top goalie in the league, but he has to be considered as one of the top 5-7, IMO Thats a crazy bad argument to say that Rousseau didnt take his team to the finals and Gravel did is absurd. Rousseau took his team to the finals in his 18 year old season which was the year before . Its all history they both didnt win. I think theres many OA goalies this year that could fair the same on any conteneder you put them on that being Mercer, Gravel, Rousseau, Ruccia, St'Hilaire.

No matter how good or bad you think Gravel is, if you watched this game - you would know he made more than a few very nice saves.
The Isles outshot them something like 14-2 in the first period…without a decent goalie, SJ isn’t leading 1-0 after the first frame.
This team has major issues scoring goals…but again, Gravel made 5-6 great saves

Its not absurd when following the conversation. Rousseau and his entire team flopped at the end of last season. Gravel took his team to the finals. Nothing said about Rousseau was incorrect. It's both true that he went to the finals at 18 and couldn't get out of round 1 at 19 with an excellent team. When talking about who is the best...recency bias is going to come into play in a league where there's wild development swings from every age to the next. The best goalie being 18 doesn't guarantee the same goalie will be the best at 19 and/or 20 when he's older. Other goalies may, likely will, pass them on the development curve. If you could have Rousseau who went to the finals and then flopped or Ruccia and Gravel coming off of excellent team performances who would you take? I think all 3 are pretty much equal and whether you win as a team will have nothing to do with who the goaltender is you roll with and more with the team you've built.

Exactly it comes down to the team infornt of you Halifax compared to BC was a joke BC was miles better than Halifax last year. you can argue that BC was DRU easiest series last year besides SJ. Gravel wasnt to hot in the finals. Going off of saying gravel made the finals and rousseau didnt just isnt the argument to make when trying to justify who is better.

Rousseau stood on his head? 3.45GAA and .890 sv% vs 2.27 and .925 during the season. He had a bad series. His entire team did. Rousseau playing behind 2 straight contenders is the only reason anyone would have him above those other goaltenders at this point. If ANY of these guys were truly elite we wouldn't be talking about them as overage options. They are all very good and they all have flaws. The argument that Gravel had a much better playoff is something going for him. Same for Ruccia. Completely throw it in the trash as a talking point if you like but its still facts that many goaltenders had a better last 2-3 months of their 19yr old seasons than Rousseau did.

Were talking Q level none of these guys are different as i stated before i think they can all be really good. I just dont think you can look at a playoff run and say hes "better" especially how gravel played in the finals. Rousseau lost his two first games 2-1 in OT 3rd game was a shit show yes but histeam was to blame especially after Mackinnon was kicked out in game 3. i think Rousseau is taking blame he shouldnt for what happened to Halifax last year

Ultimately I think Rousseau was never as good as people were hyping because of his great 18yr old season. His 19yr old season in comparison was a huge let down. Thats where Gravel and Ruccia's playoff runs even the argument out. At 18 they were a step behind. After the 19yr old seasons they were right there...maybe even have taken a bit of a step past a Rousseau.

Yet he went to the finals last year with the Drakkar But, I never said anything about Rousseau not taking his team to the finals. All I said was that he couldn't get the Mooseheads past the first round last year. Am I wrong?

You were discrediting Rousseau when it simply wasn't his fault he isn't expected to take a team to the 2nd rd when they score 6 goals in 4 playoff games. Gravel is good but he faced Charlottetown rd 1 than he played well for two rds but ultimately BC was much better than Bathurst and CB. The finals weren't so great for BC.
