The second QMJHL regular season Player of the Week is Saint John Sea Dogs goaltender Charles-Edward Gravel . In two games, the 20-year-old from Lévis was solid with a 1.44 goals-against average and a .961 save percentage, allowing the Sea Dogs to go undefeated over the weekend.
Gravel put on quite a show Friday night in Charlottetown, stopping 45 shots, including 22 of 24 in the third period, in Saint John's 6-2 triumph over the Islanders. Gravel was named the game's third star as the Dogs earned their first win of the season.
On Sunday afternoon, the Sea Dogs traveled to Sydney and doubled their win total for the young campaign with a 2-1 shootout victory over the Cape Breton Eagles. Gravel was once again at the top of his game, first stopping 29 shots in regulation, then slamming the door on a marathon shootout, blanking the Eagles in nine attempts.
Gravel enters the third week of the QMJHL regular season with a 2-1-0-0 record, a 1.95 goals-against average and a .944% save percentage. Acquired from Baie-Comeau by the Sea Dogs during the pre-season, Gravel played a key role last spring in leading the Drakkar to the Gilles-Courteau Trophy final.
Good pickup so far for the Sea Dogs!!
