Aurora actually, but I'm sure you know that. Again, who gives a shit where any player is from? BPA-Best player available. Hopefully this ends the tryout for Hughes. He's awful. Awful? Hahahaha Yes. A 20yr old "scorer" who has 1 goal in 13 games. Not even close to be good enough. As I said before the season started, he won't last the year in this league. He's not good enough to be taking a 20yr spot. Stats dont lie. |

He's not good enough to be taking a 20yr spot. Stats dont lie. I’m not really sure anyone labelled Hughes as a scorer…if they did, then they haven’t watched him much. Simon is a guy who is very streaky…he’ll be quiet, and then all of a sudden he’s putting up points every night. It happened last year…he was in and out of the lineup, then late in the season - he was probably our most consistent player. But he’s not a goal scorer. He’s a guy who’s hard to play against…in your face, hard on the forecheck…and will put up some points here and there. But for anybody to expect him to put up 90-100 points is just dumb. Even if we get rid of him…say bring in a 100 point guy. Are we any higher in the standings? Not a chance. One player isn’t making a difference on this team….hes a local guy, clearly a good leader by the A on his chest. There’s not many better options for free right now. We’ve already spent enough assets on overagers this season…in a season where we’ll likely end up selling off everything anyways. |

How much do you think realistically Butler, Campbell, and Shields each go for if we were to sell a significant portion of the core? Butler probably gets the biggest return out of the three you mentioned and he's currently on pace to match his points from last season. Biggest thorn in the Islanders side when if they were to trade away from their current core might be the new potential NCAA rule changes cause previously I'd look at Butler as a 2.5 year player for whoever acquired him if he was traded this season but now if he continued to develop he could be in the NCAA at 20yo. |
