Landon and Lane Sim were eligible to enter the OHL draft in their draft season due to their father having played in the league. It is something of an archaic rule where if your dad played in the league, then you might be eligible despite living in a different geographic region. It's the same rule that former Dartmouth U18 player Aiden O'Donnell used to head to the OHL. He was supposed to be one of the top prospects coming out of the Maritimes and went 14th overall to Brantford.
Sim hasn't provided much offense for Sarnia through two seasons. He's only 17. Maybe he can find his niche in our program.
It is good to see the team being creative to make additions to the lineup. Where we are at in the stands, obviously taking a look at some new guys is something to consider.

Time to get creative and we need to say goodbye to some players that just haven’t panned out.

Time to get creative and we need to say goodbye to some players that just haven’t panned out. Like Hughes I don’t disagree with you there. I think it’s time to move a lot of players. We disagree on the characterization that he’s “garbage”

I get that people don't like him and he hasn't had the luck this year but I think it's a bit greasy the way Hughes is being treated.
Islanders parade him around all off season like the face of the team, give him an A and then sit him. It's not a great look for the team, I would think it would turn some potential players off.

Yeah, people are quick to shit on Hughes but I still feel like he can be part of the team for sure.
There’s no doubt he’s had a slow start, but we know he goes through his peaks and valleys.
Just for reference, Sirman has played 6 games since being signed and is a -4….with three of those games being wins.

Maybe they had hoped he wouldn’t be dogshit this year. Yet here we are. Not greasy at all. Put up or shut up basically. This isn’t rec hockey.

I agree Sirman has played well matching up well against top line. 20 year olds need yo display immediate consistency in their game. The peaks and valleys of developing , younger players are not usually tolerated for long. I dont see another QMJHL route for Hughes with his one goal so far. Dylan Andrews with 3 goals in 6 games will soon be available from the eagles. The delay in releasing him may not be "a not great look for the team" but an effort to find a more palatable landing spot than last place Grand Falls. I still believe he ends up with the Caps.
