What kind of season will Riopel have this year?

This is where his maturity will REALLY show in my opinion. There's 2 ways to take this. You can sulk about it and it will affect your confidence and you will play poorly or you can take the more mature approach and use it as motivation. Don't let it affect your confidence and just do your best. He's gonna be number 1 so there will be lots of pressure on his shoulders but hopefully he doesn't think of that and just keeps doing what got him here.

David Stich from the Sea Dogs is in a similar boat. He was projected to go in the 1st round of the entry draft for most of the year and he never got drafted at all. I am hoping he is pissed off about not being drafted and shows what NHL teams missed out on.

I would say for Riopel this year is his first real year. He is all we got and if he plays well we can be in the top 4 and maybe 3. If he doesn't have what it takes to hold a game like Crawford, than we are in the bottom 4. He doesn't even have to win us games, just give us a chance to win most of the games. If he can do that with a young defense, then he's done all he can do and he will get noticed.

It sucked that he went to the draft and didn't get picked but it was an experience for him. Don Cherry always says if your not in the first couple of rounds don't go. I really think that this was probably the best thing that could of happened to him. I think he will come out with a vengence to show everyone that he is capable of playing in the NHL and he will have all the opportunity to show the scouts this year as well. Either way I am happy to have a "pissed off" Riopel.

I really hope that Riopel can use this as a motivating tool. He's our no.1 this year & we need to have him playing good. I personally wasn't surprised when he wasn't drafted, but I did feel awful for the guy. You go & sit there for a few days, just to get disappointed. I hope he doesn't let it get to his game, if it does, we're in trouble..

I think this is a make it or break it season for him. He has to prove he's #1 potential otherwise he might end up another Sniderman type goalie....
