Wildcats sign a pair of Ontario defensemen
Moncton, NB - The Moncton Wildcats announced today they have signed 19 year old defensemen Myles Gomes and 18 year old Cody Wilson to try out forms. Gomes, 5-foot-10 and 205 pounds, played 48 games last season for the Stouffville Spirit of the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League where he accumulated 8 goals, 27 assists for 35 points. “Myles is a right handed defenseman with go! od mobility and plays a conservative, stay at home type game. He played for one of the best teams in the OPJHL last season,” said Don Matheson, scout for the Moncton Wildcats. Cody Wilson, 5-foot-10 and 185 pounds, played last season for the Brantford Golden Eagles of the Midwest Junior B Hockey League. In 46 games, the native of Hamilton Ontario registered 5 goals, 12 assists for 17 points. “Cody was selected in the 7th round by Brampton in the OHL as a 16 year old and was an all star last season in Jr.B” said Danny Flynn, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations for the Moncton Wildcats. “Ted Nolan coached him for 3 summers and says that he is a very intelligent player. Ted feels confident that he will challenge for a spot in our roster this upcoming season.”
Good to see them bringing in a couple more defenceman who can at least compete for a spot on the team. I have a feeling these won't be the last FA defenceman that will be coming to camp.

I have heard the same thing. There are still a few more FA's that we won't know about til camp starts. Our D won't be as bad as people are making it out to be. But there will be some guys who wen't through last year and won't have a place this year.
