Well trainning camp is almost here so I did a list of D men that are going to be here.
Martin Baca He should be a lock on the team.
Mark Barberio He should also be a lock.
Alexi Pianosi He should be a lock as well.
Nocolas Goyens will probably make the team. I hope he worked on his speed as I think that was his biggest downside.
Nick Emanuelle is probably going to be lost in the numbers. He is was probably our most solid defensive D man last year.
Joseph Tolles was brought in last season and I thought played admirably in the ice time he got. I think he has the skill to make the team but it all depends on how he developped over the summer.
Daniel Whelan and Remy Lamoureux are both going to be looked at for one thing "toughness". I think whoever is willing to drop the gloves will win out. But size this year will not be as big an issue as last season. As we will be larger up front.
Bobby Little I don't know much about him besides he is 6'5 190. Could be interesting.
Kelan Herr did a good job for us last season but I really can't see them keeping him as a 19 yr old when we have a few younger D men who need the experience more.
Brandon Greenside gave up his NCAA to play here but decided to go back to ONT. He ended up winning best D man for his team. Seemed to play well as his stats were good and got better in the playoffs. I am looking forward to seeing him with a year of maturity. Good chance to crack the lineup.
Tommy Cross really think he should be comming to the Q but he won't. He was drafted 35th overall by Boston and will play at Boston College next season.
Simon Danis-Pepin No chance of him comming here unless he does something illegal. He is going to be playing big minutes with Maine this year. Even though Torchetti is in Chi I don't think it will help any.
Matt Boyle I beleive he made the team last year but had a serious knee injury that he is still healing up from. Will be interesting to see how it has healed up.
P. Luc Brousseau Not too sure on what to think. Hope he has a terrific camp and proves Hodge wrong.
Paul Dimitruk I do feel he will play here this season. I think the Wildcats will pull out all the stops on him and Samuels-Thomas this year. If he comes he should be a lock.
Matt Furlotte drafted this year but not much infor on him.
Nick Croft was drafted in 06 played decently in Mirimichi. His profile says 5'8 here but on the MJHL team site it's 5'10 203. Other than that he seems like a stay at home D man.
Myles Gomes and Cody Wilson will get very good looks especially with praise from Nolan. I would not be surprised to see one of them make the team.
Not nearly as in depth as the forwards but I only have seen a handful play in person besides trainning camp last year. And I thought Martikainen was going to be good. So take it for what it's worth.
P.S. I still think that Rooperti did not get a fair shot either.
Let the discussion begin.
