Moncton, NB- Moncton Wildcats Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Danny Flynn announced today that they’ve added three more players to their training camp roster.
Adam Micheli played 45 games last season for the Georgetown Raiders in the Ontario Provincial Jr A Hockey League (OPJHL) recording 2 goals, 12 assists for 14 points. The 18 year old defenseman will report to the rookie camp which will take place at the Tim Hortons 4 Ice Centre starting August 12.
Robert Lucciantonio also played in the OPJHL for the Bramelea Blues where he registered 2 goals, 6 assists for 8 points in 34 games. The 5-foot-10 and 180 lbs forward is originally from Oakville Ontario.
Mike Babiak is a 6’02 and 190 lbs goaltender that played last season in the Toronto area. He recently played with the Atlantic Canadians at the 2007 John Cunniff Memorial Chowder Cup in Boston and performed well in the tournament.

On a side note according to teh T&T Hayes, Heffernan, Cross, Danis Pepin, Samuels Thomas and Colin Moore have all stated they are staying in the US. Thats a shot that hurts. I was hoping to land one of those guys. Oh well still waiting on Dimitruk and MacAusland.

I was hoping to land one of those guys. Oh well still waiting on Dimitruk and MacAusland. The only one out of that group that seemed interested in reporting here was Samuels Thomas... when Flynn was questioned about the rest the answer usually was "We've contacted the family/agent"... nothing more... which means "they are not reporting". If they can convince Dimitruk and MacAusland (and I've been under the impression that MacAusland will be a done done deal but perhaps not this season), then great. As for the rest. Not expecting them anyway, so no loss, no hurt.

If MacAusland is a "done deal", what benefit would there be for him to NOT play in the Q this year? To be able to back-out of the "done deal" next summer?
Anything other than playing for the Cats would imply "no deal".

I have to agree with you curtis. If he is planning on playing in the Q it would be better for him to get used to the speed and size now instead of being a 17 yr old rookie next year. I also had heard that Samuels-Thomas had an agreement with Torchetti to come. But npw that he is not here that may have played a part in his decision.

Anything other than playing for the Cats would imply "no deal". What if these "negotiations" don't end in the foreseeable future? What if he skips on his 16 YO season? Took two years to get Pineault here... different situation, I know... but sometimes this crap takes time. And I didn't say it was a "done deal" I meant to say that it will eventually be a done deal. If the two sides are far enough away from an agreement, he'll go Jr.A... still develop... and perhaps come to the Cats at 17 a little more polished than some other 17 year olds, sort of like Randy Cameron last year. Either way, it won't bother me... there's enough forwards on the depth chart and it's a rebuild year to boot. If he's not here this year, it's not the end of the world.

I really don't think he wanted to play NCAA IMO. I don't know him or anyone associated with him but it is strange that he fell all the way to 35 and we picked him and now they are entertaining offers. I am sure that the offers are high but there will probably be a happy medium becauce I feel he wanted to play here with the Cats all along. My opinion only.

I believe this is Samuels-Thomas' NHL draft year ... with the logjam of forwards the Cats have, it is possible that he and his advisors fealt we the Cats would not be able to provide him with enough ice time to thrive in the QMJHL, thus harming his draft stock ... a solid showing in the USHL may be more benficial to Samuels-Thomas in 07/08 than a year spent transitioning to the Q in a 13th forward role.

I never thought of that. But on the other side if he came to camp and played well and earned a spot on one of the top lines that might help his stock all that much more. But I guess there is a high "risk to reward" scenario to that one though.

What would stop Samuels-Thomas from playing int he USHL if he got here, spent a few days in camp to assess his chances, and then made a decision?
