Phil Mangan named captain of the 07/08 Cats, assistants are Morehouse, MacLellan, and Eagles.
Seem like decent choices ... I am sort of surprised that Marquardt doesn't have an A - didn't he have one last year? Wonder if that means they aren't expecting him back ...

I think it's a tribute to the way the team has been built that there were a number of guys who could have worn the "C".
Congrats to Phil....going from being cut in the OHL, to proving himself again in Junior A, proving himself in the Q, and now team captain. Kudos!

I guess this clarifies the 20 year old situation somewhat. It comes down to Max and Matt and likely hinges on what happens to Matt in the pros.

Thats a slap in the face to Morehouse I think it's more of slap in the face to Marquardt... if he's coming back that is.

The Cats sometimes use 4 A's. I figure Marquardt, if he comes back, will get one, especially after his leadership display against Bathurst in pre-season.

No doubt Morehouse is the on-ice leader...Not shy to back down, forechecking like crazy and taking the body.....
But....I think Chris sometimes shows a lack of control and puts the team in bad situations on the penalty kill because he tries to stir things up and gets the short end of the stick.....
This I do know....Phil has taken an active leadership role, especially with the new players and he is looked at as a leader by his piers......
Last but not least, he will be one of our leading scorers, centering the PP and first line...
Good choice Danny, and good luck tonight boys!!!

All indications are that Marquardt isn't coming back.

All indications are that Marquardt isn't coming back. The indication that matters is that he has no contact, that means he is coming back. with only a few exceptions, unsigned 20 year olds don't stick in the AHL.

I would expect that if he has a good camp, Columbus would then sign him ... otherwise he will return to junior and they will make a decision in the spring.

I'm surprised at Magnan, given that even wildcat fans called him one dimensional and soft... maybe he has a leadership attitude this year being in his second year.
