But if he can turn in consistent performances like that down the road, he'd be a huge steal. You have to remember, we got him in the 12th round. Also keep in mind that he is not playing against a full major Jr lineup. Moncton didn't have any of its offensive players in the lineup ... and with the exception of Lessard and Labelle ... all other returning players that played are not guaranteed a spot on this years team. But it sounds like he stood on his head for half the game ... good stuff. He faced about 22 powerplays in the 1st half and had 30 shots in his half of the game........for the 1st game of the year it was nice to see a good show of goaltending.

One comment by Francoeur this morning....he first acknowledged that the players did not have game situation practices yet and he went on to say this: A FEW by their play last night got the chance to play a 2nd exhibition game.....

I'll assume Moncton won all the fights since nobody wants to comment on them.

Fight recaps:
1- Legros-Boyle: Legros was looking for a fight all game and got one here. He was in Boyle's face for around 5 seconds challenging him and when he starts to turn away Boyle drops the gloves and connects with the 1st punch. Both players exchange a few more blows and fall to the ice with Boyle landing on top. Legros gets up pissed (IMO when you challenge guys like he did don't turn your back on them, slight victory for Boyle).
2- Lessard-Loudon: Lessard slashed Loudon earlier in the game and the Bathurst player was given it too him since. Both were in front of the net fighting for position then the gloves were off. Some decent punches for both players with no clear victor.
3- Lamoureux-Legros: Both players dropped gloves and went to center ice. Both guys threw a few decent punches but this was more of a wrestling match with both guys throwing jabs to body as neither could get a really good punch to the head (both players were holding on pretty good. (IMO boring draw).
4- Brown-Labelle: Clear victory for Labelle as Brown was dropped and when he came back up had blood coming from his nose/mouth and was shaking his head and swearing.
All in all I score it 1 win for Moncton, 1 win for Bathurst and 2 draws. Legros didn't really impress me as he took some stupid penalties trying to get into a fight and when a Wildcat finally answered the Bell he didn't fair well. Looked foolish out there...all brash and brave and then flat on his face...poor showing.

I know it was only the 1st pre-season agem but the only 2 Titan players that stood out for me were defensman #5 Blanchard and the 1st goalie Champion. The rest were mediocre at best.

Did you expect more from Legros?
Boyle is not know to be a tough guy.........and he's not that big is he?

I was hoping for a better showing. That being said if the Titan keep an enforcer I hope they can find (or already have) a different guy cause IMO Legros doesn't cut it.

I thought he did great. He took two stupid penalties and then got a misconduct for two majors. I don't think he will be a legitimate tough guy. I thought he was going to get Boyle but it was not to be. I was very impressed with the way Champion played though. He kept you guys in it for the first half. Plus Bathurst missed two or three open net shots as well. Pre season is fun to watch but extremely sloppy. On a side note first time in the KCI center last night and it is a nice rink. Didn't look like you could get a bad seat.

I know the stats are wrong when they list Boyle as 5 '11" 175 lbs from last year He is at least 6 foot 190 and trained with Joe Borden from S'side He might not be a fighter but can probably hold his own.The fact that Legros was not a clear winner should not mean he has to win them all. At least he shows up.

At least he shows up. What is failed to be mentioned is that Boyle took him totally by surprise and unexepectedly. Legros reacted pretty good in these circumstances. Those who expect Legros to be the heavy weight we never had since Tremblay will be disappointed. Bergeron, at 187 lbs. last season was all this team needed in a League where the big enforcer is becoming more more obsolete and useless. On another note I was not overly impressed by Labelle, a 19 YO, beating down a 16 YO..... Clearly Francoeur wants to have somebody to stand up for the team though and he want the KCI to become the ThunderDome again. This is not what Legros and Labelle will deliver. I expect changes there as neither is good enough a player to be an average enforcer and an average player. The ideal would be another Bergeron but we might have to find it somewhere else.

Yup Champion and Remi Blanchard are the two player who gain a lot yesterday. Champion was playing like a real champion For Remi Blanchard, he seems to be a smart d-man, he can read the game well and a a good first pass. He have a good skating hability too. Size is a disadvantage for him but I rather have a small, fast, smart Defensement, than a big, slow d-man who have only size for quality. I can't wait to see Remi play against real line-up.

On the Brown - LaBelle fight ... was Labelle the instigator or was it more of a mutual decision ? Can't see a 16 YO looking to get into it with a 19 YO ... although sometimes these kids come into the league feeling they have to prove themselves and look to get that first fight out of the way. I doubt Flynn (or Irving) is too happy about him getting into a fight after what it took to convince him to report.
