If you're looking at stats this mornig, Riopel is nothing but average. His numbers stilll put him ahead of both your goalies .. He's a good goalie...but unfortunately he's playing on a weak team. If he had a half decent team in front of him, he'd probably be amongs the top goalies in the league.

He is among the top goalies in the league - his stats do not do him justice because he is on a weak team ...

Weren't you guys supposed to contend this year though.. Weren't you guys suppose to rebuild last year We lost 6 in a row...where have you been? Didn't you lose 7 in a row ? Rebuilding is a process that normally takes more than one season ... perhaps you remember the Titan 3 and 4 seasons ago. CB will see a similar dropoff next year when their key veterans are gone and they are left with inexperience. CB is doing the exact same thing we did last year. Rebuilding started last year for us ... but it was buoyed by good veterans and leaders ... something we lack this year.

No, but the stats tell a story as well as people who watch the games. If you're looking at stats this mornig, Riopel is nothing but average. Did you factor in the fact that they only have 2 years experience on defense(one 17 year old and another 18 year old "veteran")? Or that the forwards have underachieved so far? I guess reading is not your strong suit.

You are the one that brought up the stats.

Umm Billy...he quoted you saying the Stats tell a story. Now you can't just dismiss stats when they don't suit you and use them when they do. You sound like chsb in this thread. Hipster said he is one of the best in the league, but it's hard to say who is the best. None of them are standing out head and shoulders above the rest. I don't see what the problem with his statement is. You can't say for sure who is the best, but you can say which goalies are a collective top group. Actually, I can now say he isn't the best. Desfosses, Cousineau, D'Orso, Nadeau, Roy, Delmas all have better numbers than Riopel. I know stats don't tell everything, as Kennedy has better numbers than Riopel and I would never say Kennedy is better. But those above goalies are playing at a high level. Some of them are playing for teams with similar records to Moncton (D'Orso, Nadeau) and some of them are seeing almost the same number of shots per game. Gougen almost has the same stats as Riopel. So I can not see how you can claim that Riopel is the best goalie in the league. This is not an attack on Riopel, as I think he is a great young goalie who is only going to improve.

I didn't say he was the best goalie, I said he played as well or better than anybody so far this year. The numbers don't quite reflect it because the Cats as a team have not played very well so far, but he still has very good numbers. If not for him they'd easily be last overall. A lot of forwards are having very disapointing starts to the season(Labelle Cameron Marquardt mostly) and the defense has a lot of new players that need time to adapt to this level.
