This was the first game I saw in Moncton since Sid Crosby was in the league, so I dunno a lot about the building, other than it's older than I am... Is the ice slow on purpose? Or maybe they just don't freeze the pucks all the way. I would think one or the other, if not both. It cuts down the effectiveness of the cross-ice pass, and I'm sure visiting players have a harder time adjusting to it than the home team. When you shoot a routine dump-in from outside the blueline and the puck is bouncing almost as high as the boards as it passes behind the net, you know something's up. Seems like the half-assed "cleaning" before the shootout actually made it worse in front of Lavigne, not better. IMO the snow on the ice slowed the movement a lot and made the poke-check really effective. Has anyone alerted the SPCA about that weird noise every time the "Cats score? Sounds like animal torture to me. All in all, not a bad game experience though...decent, cheap food...reasonable lineups for the bathrooms or concessions...I actually like the tribute to former "Cats in the NHL in the back corner of the rink...it's good to see where Afenasankov developped into the softest player in the NHL...P Morehouse is excellent comedy relief too...scared little turtle against Stich, but as soon as they were both safely enclosed in the penalty box, he started shouting and gesturing madly. Funny how he seemed to find his man-parts as soon as the door to the penalty box was closed, and he knew he was safe. Oh, and did anyone else see Howes skate overly close to the Moncton bench after he scored in the shootout? nice to see some classy people down in saint john. in any case, i wouldn't get too excited. come playoff time there won't be any shootouts Come playoff time there will be no shootouts , or Wildcats....so what was your point again .....speaking of classy "freevick" you could be elected president of the club!!

Glad their won't be any shootouts in the playoffs. Don't need a coinflip to settle the game. However, my beer bet with penguins 23 for the Dogs beating the Cats in the standings are looking better all the time

Well,I must say that was probably the best home game i've seen this year....quite a bit of actions...some good flow, good hits etc.... Moncton's defense=brutal.Lavigne had no chance on any of those goals....nice giveaway by Wilson on the first goal,I forget who failed to pick up their man on the 2nd but it may have been Boyle,3rd goal was Gomes's fault as he stood there watching the guy pop in the tying goal. I honestly think that Gomes,Boyle and Wilson(maybe Pianosi too)aren't good enough to play in the Q......and where was Kelan Herr???I thought if there was a game he should dress it would be vs S-J...he could've easily replaced Boyle or Wilson. It's funny because it seemed like if the Cats would've gave in and played S-J style late in the 2nd they have won the game....at that point S-J seemed very frustrated and didn't want to play hockey and I think if Mctn would've accepted S-J would've gave up the game....instead they came back strong to tie. Teams that play physical against the Cats seem to do well.....SJ was clearly the tougher team out there and it showed on the scoreboard in the end.Morehouse is still the same pansy he was before, turning down Stich and Gallant numerous times. Also Marquardt was floating around as always,I bet Flynn can't wait till december to get rid of him....maybe he can even sucker in a team to give him some good assets for him. Lavigne played a solid game and made several nice saves that allowed Mctn to build that 3-0 lead....I think this kid was a good find. Wilson wasn't even on the ice for the first goal, it was Morehouse with the brutal giveaway and also Pianosi was cheating up near the blueline on the play. But you're correct on the 2nd and 3rd goals. Why would we want Herr in the line-up? So he could be a punching bag for Gallant like he was in the first game in Saint John? The Cats "gave in" and fought 3 times in that game when they were up 2-0 and ended up losing 3-2 so I'm not sold on your theory. Also why wouldn't Morehouse be turning down Gallant? What would have been the point of that fight? To justify Gallant's existence?

According to L'Acadie Nouvelle, this morning, Flynn is staying with the hot hand -- Lavigne. I heard a couple of weeks ago from a less than credible source that Flynn is not a big fan of Riopel's and that he could be on the move at Xmas ... I didn't put much stock in it, and still don't, however maybe there is a grain of truth to Flynn not being Riopel's biggest fan if he is willing to sit him three in a row at the slightest sign of Lavigne getting hot. Lavigne to play again tonight ... could my source have been on to something? Lavigne has been decent, but not so great so as to justify sitting Riopel four in a row IMO ... maybe they are hiding a minor injury to Riopel ...

Ahh I see that you're upset with his antics as were quite a few of the Sea Dogs. Just proving an earlier point of mine that he was doing a good job in the first two periods.

My point about Herr is that he's here for toughness....if he's not going to dress vs S-J(probably the toughest team in the east)then why is he on the team? You must admit he's at least as good as Wilson and Boyle. As for the 1st goal it was actually Sill who got lazy and watched Dido pop it in right beside him.On the 2nd goal Boyle was just standing by himself in front of the crease while Kirkpatrick stood there untouched. The game was 3-0 for Mctn and S-J lost focus big time....wanting to play the gooning it up game....what I mean is that if Mctn didn't just turn their backs S-J may have continued to take liberties and completly forget that they still had a chance to win being down 3-0...instead they came back in the 3rd disciplined and ready to win a hockey game. I know Herr is semi useless but at least he brings entertainement value...something that Wilson and Boyle do not.
