What can be said about this one? The guys almost pulled it out at the at the end, but it just wasn't meant to be. At least this year when we have lost at home we've gotten to see a hockey game and not a blowout(home opener aside). Howes looked good again in this one , that assist he had on the first goal was a nice pass after almost being made a part of the glass. However he was able to sidestep the check and put a perfect pass on the tape of Gauthier. The Alex Grant goal was a nice shot, did he ever have that one labeled...to all the people who say SHOOT every time the puck is on a players stick, take a look at how many sets of legs are in the way before you start to criticize the players descisions(ladies) sheesh. Some times it is better to pass it around until someone is open for a decent shot. Alex is playing a real good game this year no complaints from this poster on the effort or descisions he has been putting forward in the past couple of months.
It's nice to have two goaltenders that give us a chance to win, as far as Fullerton being yanked I think it was done at the right time. It gave the team time to rally around Mayer and turn the game around.... they didn't get it done but Mayer played a good game and I don't put the loss on Fullerton, sometimes the bounces just aren't going your way. Roy played a solid game at the other end, but not so good that he stole the game and really deserved the first star as much as on Wed. night where Tardif stoned us all night, but if not Roy who else?
As far as attendance goes at last nights game, it is getting pretty close to Christmas and it is pretty expensive to go to a game with a family....take the family package for example,4 tickets for 32 bucks is a good deal. But if you go to a game with two kids and another adult (wife, buddy, whoever) you're not getting out of there any less than 50 bones lighter and this close to the big day lots of folks don't have it to throw around. The people who don't see it this way most likely don't have any dependants to take care of(TOYS ARE EXPENSIVE). I had to sneak out the door without my kid last night because the extra 25 bucks can be used to do other things, I have a flex so my ticket is already paid for but my boy can go thru 25 before the end of the first (and he's too young to buy beer), it's not cheap to take a kid or two down there for a game.
I won't be there this afternoon as it's a Sunday game and I've already gone down that road, however I will be trying to look in on the web. Lets see a split in this weekend series, it would have been nice to take the four points from the Eagles but they are in the second spot(for now) for a reason ...they are a hard working team that is well coached and from what I've seen of them they play as a unit in both ends of the rink and deserved the win last night. GO DOGS GO!!
