I'm bored and waiting for Heroes to come on. Just thought I would take a look who our 20 year olds would be next year and who will stay and who will leave. Obviously, this is just going off our current roster and dosen't factor in trades.
Brett Gallant Francois Gauthier Payton Liske Jeff McNeil Ryan Sparling
I can't see McNeil or Gaut staying. I think Sparling is a lock and probably Liske. Sparling-Liske-Dido would be a potent line for 2 20 yr olds and a 19. Gallant is a toss up imo.
Looking at the season after, we will have the following players as 20 yr olds.
Keven Charland Chris Didomenico Alex Grant Alexandre Leduc Robert Mayer David Stich
Going to be real tough parting with some of those guys when the time comes.
Anyways, food for thought.

I agree with you about McNeil, and about Sparling and Liske. However I wouldn't be so quick to count out Gauthier, he's looked really good to me this year. Always hustling, good PKer, and pretty good setup guy. Tied for third in scoring on the team this year, behind Dido and Liske. I knoe some posters seem to have a problem with him, but I've been happy with his play.

I don't have a problem with him at all, but he isn't really standing out to me. Maybe it's his 1 goal this year which came in his first game. Granted he has quite a few assists but I would still like to see him end his 14 game goal scoring drought.

I previously stated McNeil wouldn't be here, but he's changing my mind. He's playing much better and is much more confident. It's typically a late developng position, and in a position where a cool head is important, a decent 20yr d-man is worth keeping.
Liske & Sparling I think are sure things, but I have a gut feeling Liske may try pro.
Two years is too far to think about.

You guys will need an upgrade in the 20 Y/O Dept to make a credible run at the Pres Cup....

You guys will need an upgrade in the 20 Y/O Dept to make a credible run at the Pres Cup.... Agreed. If the Dido, Liske and Sparling combo keeps putting up numbers when Sparling returns from injury, then Liske and Sparling are locks to remain. As happy as I have been with how Gauthier and McNeil are playing, they aren't 20's on a team trying to make a run at winning the league. We'd have to go out and get a big gun to make our 2nd line a serious threat offensively.

I'd like to see Liske and Sparling return for next season....maybe Bathurst would be interested in making a deal for Gallant...they seem to have a real boner for him up there lately, lol.

I think most will agree that Sparling and Liske and likely to return for their 20 yr old seasons.
I doubt MacNeil and Gauthier will be back though their gonna need something better to allow them to make a real push next year.
Does Gauthier have a huge curve on his stick or what? lol Seems lto me his shot always seems to go high for some reason.

Gallant is one of those guys that everybody in the league hates, but everybody from his home team loves.........he reminds me a bit of Pascal Morency that CB had a few years back.......he was a dirty cheapshot artist that everyone in CB absolutely loved, but he was hated by everyone else........Gallant will make a good 20 for a team that isn't really in the running next year, but will not make a good 20 for a team that is wishing to contend......and that's not from not liking him, that's just common sense.

Of the 20s for the year after, don't expect to see Grant, Stich, Mayer, or Dido back. All will likely move on.
