I know it is only pre-season but I couldn't resist. With the Moncton loss tonight the Saint John Sea Dogs have taken over first place in the East division based on winning %.

Which is all you can really go by because some teams play more game then others in preseason. Preseason or not it's sure has a nice ring to it lol ;D

Do you get a banner for that?
Real hockey starts next week, don't get too excited over the result of meaningless games.

Preseason games are meaningless in terms of standings, but like Canuckle says, it gives us a glimmer of hope this season. I would rather be first in preseason than dead last.

I can't wait to see the Dogs open up in Lewy against the Perron and Bernier-less Maineiacs.

No shit Nobody thinks it means the Sea Dogs are gonna go win the Mem Cup or even the President's cup for that matter but how can the fans not be optimistic after the last 2 seasons.

Preseason games are meaningless in terms of standings, but like Canuckle says, it gives us a glimmer of hope this season. I would rather be first in preseason than dead last. Moncton's two best season's in the QMJHL season to date would be 2003/04 and 2005/06. Want to know where the finished in the pre-seaon standings those two years? Last in the 2003 pre-season and 2nd last in the 2005 pre-season. So actually I'd rather be last than first Those stats don't really mean a thing but they do show how meaningless the pre-season really is.

Yes, but Moncton prob had vet teams with little to no open spots, that weren't trying in the preseason, and started trying in the regular season. We have little to no open spots, but our guys are still trying anyway to be in game shape early. Then again, it probably won't matter much, because most teams that don't try can turn it on.
Moncton's #2, guess that means you'll finish near the bottom?

Not really the point and I'm sure nobody here is getting to excited over preseason games but it sure is a reason to be optimistic! ;D No, it is not. It means nothing. It means they consistently outplayed their opponents in nothing games. Whether they be nothing games or meaningful games, this is something that Seadogs fans are not use to. The original poster was clearly half-joking with this comment and stated that it was nothing to get too excited about but thought it might be worth a mention on the Seadogs board (of all places). The rest of the league may not care but Seadogs fans do, even though they know it wont result in a first place finish during the regular season. Why is this so hard to understand?
