Personally I voted "Yes"
I voted yes because I'm fairly certain they had no intentions of bringing him back next year as a 20 maybe they could have waited til Christmas to pull the trigger but what happens if he doesn't do so hot then we may only get the 7th or the 4th but not both.
We have 5 very capable guys right now even Despres has really been impressive when I seen him play and he is gonna adjust to this league with no trouble at all I don't think. We are solid for at least the next 2 years on the blueline.

I voted no but mostly because the timing is off. Looks like we traded Rioux to open up ice time for...MacDonald? I wanted this done last year, when it would have opened up more time for Sauve and Amyot, which would pay dividends this year for sure. No way MacDonald is close to the prospect of Sauve or Amyot, but we make a deal to allow him time, while last year Amyot could barely find the ice, and often sat in the stands.
So I feel it's a bad deal because it should have been done last year. That or we shouldn't have played D-Mac as much as we did in every situation.

Yes, because hopefully it means that JB has seen enough in Grant-Stich-Amyot-Sauve that we can go a little more top heavy with our D instead of rolling 3 pairings. I think Grant should play 25+ mins every night, and I'd try to get Sauve 25+. It might be like Anaheim's D, where they could put anyone on as sixth D-man because he only realistically gets to play 10-14 mins a game.

Of course this is good for the team as said before we have the young guys ready to step up to larger roles. Grant, Sauve, Stich, Amyot are ready to play big minutes on this team.

I still stick by my "NO" vote. Not because I think trading him was a bad idea, but because it should have been done last year at Xmas. Grant, Stich, Sauve and especially Amyot would have benefited greatly this year from the extra ice time last year, and we weren't making the playoffs anyway last year.
If McNeil plays like he did last year for us he's a capable sixth D-man and I doubt our #6 guy sees a pile of ice anyway.

I think this just opens the spot for McNeil. I think McNeil will provide more offence then Rioux but you can rotate Pisano and McNeil in and out of the line-up. Also you can play Jeff up front a few games like JB did last year.

LOL. I'd love to see a Pisano-Thomas-Gallant line take an opening faceoff, just for shits-n-giggles.

This move did not shock me but for one of the first times, I question JB. This move seems ill timed. Perhaps the price was right but Christmas might have been a better time. I question this move becuase we trade away one of our most experienced, poised and character players to give more ice time to guys like Amyot...sorry folks not a fan. I think Rioux could have proven to be a good example for our young talent. For the record I voted no... Another poll for you guys who do you figure cried more...RiouxCrew or my 7 year old daughter? Just kidding... ;D

I think Amyot is going to have a big year, maybe not numbers wise, but I think he is going to be solid defensively. He will be a very good d-man.

I did not care for him last year but by the end of the year he had me thinking he was making big improvements. I just cannot look past the soft plays, stick checking instead of playing the body and the poor passes up the middle instead to the sides or out off the boards. I hop ehe proves me wrong but I am not a fan.
