CHANGES IN SEA DOGS ADMINISTRATION OFFICE
SAINT JOHN, August 13, 2007 – The Saint John Sea Dogs have announced several personnel changes in its front office, effective immediately.
Two news faces have joined the organization. Rick Bowness Jr. has assumed the position of marketing and communications manager while Mark Gamble has become game-night and community relations co-ordinator.
With these additions, there has also been a re-organization of responsibilities involving two existing administration office staff members. At his request, Ken Moore has relinquished his communications role to become a special advisor to the ownership group, taking on ad hoc assignments and duties for the hockey club. In addition to her season ticket holder responsibilities, Shanna Aker will be working closely with the Sea Dogs major partners on sponsorship fulfillment activities.
“We are thrilled that Rick and Mark have joined the organization,” stated Wayne Long, president of the Sea Dogs. “As our team grows on the ice, it’s equally important that the administration side grows with it. I’m very excited about our new front office structure and feel confident that we can take the Sea Dogs experience to a different level.“
Bowness is a business graduate from the University of King’s College in Halifax and the sports business management program at Algonquin College in Ottawa. Most recently, the Halifax native was manager of public relations for the Arizona Sting lacrosse club in Glendale, Arizona. Bowness has also served as an intern with Hockey Canada in Ottawa and as an assistant director of media relations and communications with the Ottawa Renegades (CFL).
Gamble joins the Sea Dogs from the University of New Brunswick in Saint John where he was a member of the communications and marketing department. While attaining his marketing degree from UNB, the Rothesay native was introduced to the Sea Dogs while performing an audit of the hockey club’s marketing activities as an assignment in his sports marketing class. Gamble also worked two summers as a marketing assistant with Moosehead Breweries Limited in Saint John.
Fans will soon get their first glimpse of the 2007-2008 edition of the Sea Dogs when training camp opens this coming weekend.
Tickets are on sale now for the three Sea Dogs pre-season games to be held at Harbour Station. Single tickets are priced at $5 each while Sea Dogs season ticket holders can purchase all three games for $10. The first pre-season home game is scheduled for August 25 vs. the Moncton Wildcats, followed by the Lewiston MAINEiacs contest on September 5 and the Acadie-Bathurst Titan game on September 9.
The Sea Dogs open their regular season on September 13 when they visit the Presidents Cup champions, Lewiston MAINEiacs. Saint John’s home opener is Friday, September 21, when they entertain the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.
