Here's an Idea that would seam silly at first but is supposed to be the way that great teams do business. What if the Wildcats try the philosophy that they've been talking about for years.
I know they would lose out sometimes but this is an idea. You would never trade for a player that is older than 17 and only trade a player for picks.
In the position that we are in. This might be a good scenario? This also doesn't mean anything about free agents. You keep bring in free agents to plug your holes if you have any and trade away players that you don't need.

Its nice to have competitive teams every year but I still would give it up for that go for it year. I know what we paid for the Mem Cup and it slowed us down for 2 years. Not so much the first though we missed an opportunity to speed up the rebuild but anyways. I would do that again without a second thought.
