The coaches arent going to buy into the hype. If Kadri sucks, they wont take him.

I'm only basing my opinion ^ on what I've been reading from posters who've been at the games.
But all the attention that Kadri is getting lala, you don't think there's any pressure there on the scouting and coaching staff to take the Leafs "saviour" ?
In my own opinion, I think there is. That's why he's been paired with Jordan Eberle for 2 days now, giving him the peddistal try-out.

Scott Glennie was moved up with Eberle too I believe...doesnt mean the coaches are buying into Glennies hype. Them moving Kadri up to Eberle's line indicates the coaches feel Kadri has sucked and if he plays like shit with Eberle than you can count him out. Think of it as a good thing. If he does well with Eberle than he probably deserves to make it as he would have to be a top 2 line kinda player...if he fails, he will be cut. So either way the coaches know where he stands.

He survived round 1.
Canada's junior hockey team made its first set on cuts on Tuesday morning, sending home blueliner Brandon Gormley of the Moncton Wildcats, Rouyn-Noranda defenceman Nicolas Deslauriers, Sudbury Wolves forward John McFarland and Plymouth Whalers centre Tyler Seguin.

I'm disappointed that since Team Canada went out of their way to reunite the former Rimouski players and put the Windsor players and other teammates together that Luke and Olivier were on opposing teams.
It must feel a little different scoring on your teammate than it does scoring on one of the other 3 goalies. If Luke were to score 3 or 4 goals on Olivier he could cost him a spot on the Junior team. I just wish they were as considerate of all the players from the samr junior teams!

Having players who have played together in the past is a big advantage.

Lala, I really do understand the idea of chemistry. Believe me, I have seen in the past how strong chemistry has helped Eagles teams exceed expectations and I have also seen how a lack of it can hurt both individuals and overall team play. I just said that I wish they had done the same for Luke and Olivier.
Using your own last statement, by going out of their way to match up and pair up junior team teammates, those players have received a big advantage over the other players, to some degree. On the other hand if Luke hesitates because a goal against Olivier might hurt Olivier's chances then Luke hurts his own chances. I think the chemistry of having Luke and Olivier on the same team would have helped them also because other thoughts and factors don't come into play. I'm sure Luke is even more motivated to score goals against the other 3 goalies to help his Eagles teammate.

Surely you jest! This is the World junior try-outs. These are players fighting for a spot. Adam would no more hesitate shooting on Roy "for fear of hurting his chances" than Roy would hesitate in making the save in order to help Adam along in his quest. These players are bordering on a professional career and who is in the net is irrelevant!

Luke is playing on a line tonight with Brayden Schenn and Jordan Caron . He his currently on the bubble for one of the last 2 roster spots. They are giving him a chance to play with better linemates tonight so it looks as though they are saying it's his spot for the taking.

hockeynut44, you could be right about teammates not giving a damn about each other. I just suggested the possibility of Luke hesitating which is not exactly the same as not trying to score.
Anyway, back to my original thought or question. Why help out some players by matching them up with linemates and former linemates to take advantage of chemistry in a short camp and not do it consistently with all the players?
Wouldn't Luke have better communication with Olivier coming back to pick up a puck or looking for a long pass during the other team's line change than with another goalie?
I'm sure after the cuts tomorrow posters will find a lot of other much more controversial things to talk about.
I found it very interesting tonight when the hockey experts were saying that this might have been Tyler Seguin's only chance to make Team Canada because he might be playing in the NHL next year.
I also heard Bob MacKenzie say that he thought Olivier Roy was basically on the outside as the 4th goalie right now. This goes against the hope or idea of Roy being groomed as a back up this year for next year's team.

I can't remember the last time they picked a goalie based on making him the backup to "groom" him for the next year. Usually they just pick the best two goalies - be they two 19 year olds, two 18 year olds, or whatever. Sometimes you need both of your guys to be on - see the 08 WJC when they started out feeling Jonathan Bernier was their starter, but ended up switching to Steve Mason by the time the medal round came.
If Roy'll make the team, he'll have to be one of the top two goalies - that simple!
