This year's Moose certainly aren't the easy win you'd expect a last place team to be..

I'm anticipating a 6-1 or thereabouts beat down tomorrow night. SJ will come in pissed off. I can only hope. SJ played 20 minutes (2nd period) and Halifax played a solid 60 minute game. I'm sure most of you know this but if I was a Mooseheads fan, I would be very pleased watching this team. So far in the games that I have seen them play against the Dogs, they are skaiting through walls and working their asses off. This game had the potential to be a blowout in the 2nd in favour of SJ with all the penalties that the Moose took, but were deserved. Corbiel stood on his head and made the big saves when he had too including a point blank glove save on Hoffman in the slot. Definitely deserved the 1st star. Bishop played well and got a nice round of applause from the crowd after his 3rd star announcement. Thought Amyot looked pretty good out there as well. Thanks for the report elementz. We were missing Knotek/Clarke./Konrad/Gilliard.........wow Mathieu has shown he can steal some games, I think he stole this one. He is still young and will have some off games but he definately shows that he can be one of the elite goalies in this league. There are some things to look forward to in Moose Country.

Holy shit, come home expecting a 5-1, 6-2 loss, only to see a 4-2 victory!! Amazing job. Boys should be proud of that one. Without our top forward and argueably our top 3 dmen, with 2 rookies defencemen filling in, yet still manage to win. Great confidence booster.

Great win by the Moose tonight. Sounds like Corbeil was a big part of the win. Good to see Bishop get the third star. I wonder if Clarke will get back in the lineup tomorrow night? I'm glad Russell scratched him to teach him a lesson. Let's hope he learned from it! Rematch should be fun. Clarke was hurt apparently before the last game, and played through it. Maybe he played bad, and undisciplined, the game before and was sat out for those reasons too... but I think he is hurt a bit. Clarke hasnt really been an issue re: costly penalties this year until that Moncton game. And he's our best D. Provided he doesnt have another Moncton game, I'd want him in there are soon as possible. Clarke won't be back until after Christmas. Injured. Groin and still wearing knee brace. Plus coaches letting him sit. Teaching him a lesson on self discipline. He needs to get his game back to pre-knee injury. Otherwise, kick him to the curb, trade him.

Wow, seems like Corbeil had quite a game! There were a few in that highlight reel that looked like open net goals... can't believe they stayed out. SJ were able to move the puck around the slot area pretty easily, hopefully we tighten that up next game.

Corbeil was excellent, but the whole Moose team played well. If you didn't know the teams' records, you would think the Moooseheads were the team to beat in the Q after last night. Disciplined and physical, and paying attention away from the puck. They were putting guys in lanes in the defensive zone, and frustrating SJ shooters all night.
The Moose got called for a bunch of penalties, and they killed them pretty effectively, for the most part. The ref was letting a lot of incidental contact go, and it was a pretty even game in that respect. I'd imagine that for every missed call against the Mooseheads I could mention, there would be a missed one the other way as well. It's called "letting them play," and it was actually refreshing.
The Sea Dogs kept trying to make the same plays, even though it was clear Halifax was anticipating them. Your forwards put on a forechecking clinic for free, and I hope SJ learned from it. Steady pressure from every line.
Your D may have been weak, but us fans would never know it. There was consistently a 3rd man back every time SJ tried to gain the zone.
As a Dogs fan, that loss hurt. I was hoping for a little medicine after the bleeding in Moncton, but the Dogs were clearly outworked in every zone, and add in the bad luck of seemingly every point shot failing to make it through, and you have a frustrated opponent.

Im sure we adopted a very defensive strategy, especially with two rookies on D filling in for the 3 regulars we were missing. There have been alot of games Ive seen where, like you said, it seems like the moose are the better team, not the opponent. Some games the moose are just all over teams, lots of shots, more or less controlling the play, giving the teams fits for at least 2 of 3 periods... and then we lose 4-2. Its why many have been enjoying the team so much even though glancing at the record you'd think we were one of the worst teams in recent Q history. We are on the bubble of turning alot of 1-2 goal losses into wins, hopefully that will start next year.

Likely not much of a chance that you'll see a repeat tonight but you never know, Cam has done a good job of getting them to believe they can win on any given night. You really have to like this team, they're a hell of a lot more enjoyable to watch this year than watching the team a couple of years ago that was "supposed" to win every night, and more fun to watch than last year's team by a long shot.
