Thought on the Hit?
Should he be suspended the remainder of the season and the playoff for the dirty Elbow?

Thought on the Hit? Should he be suspended the remainder of the season and the playoff for the dirty Elbow? thank god he did not receive a gold medal, he deserves a suspension for the rest of the year and hopefully someone will get him for that. Police will likely lay a charge, this could hurt his pro chances. I feel bad for the parents, very scary stuff. That was a premeditated well thought out attempt to mame, nothing less. Must be a real dummy, there was nothing in it for him.

He should definitely get the rest of the regular season. And maybe the playoffs too. He came right off the bench, made a beeline for Tam, and stuck his elbow out as far as he could.
Combine those hints towards how premeditated and deliberate the elbow seemingly was.......... with the gruesome injuries Tam suffered as a result........... with the fact Cormier twice threw irresponsible elbows way away from the play during World Junior pre-tournament games.

The QMJHL is under the microscope on this one based on the OHL incident earlier in the year and the tough stand they took on line brawls etc. He played his last game in the Q yesterday.

He had two elbows at the world junior tourney as well, one the in the exhibition game against Sweden if you can remember, extremely stupid, and I'm sure Willie Desjardins took this kid aside and told him that this kind of stuff would not be tolerated, and I remember McGuire doing a spot on the first elbow as well against Sweden, basically saying this kind of stuff can not be tolerated, especially by your captain, and saying that he could of seriously hurt someone, well I guess it happened, he's done for the season IMO. Makes me sick looking @ Tam on the ice like that convulsing.

horrible elbow.....there was absolutely no reason to lift his elbow...I'd like to know what the hell he was thinking - and don't give me crap about trying to run interference, or I didn't think he was that close, or ...... ; not like there was a lot going on, the puck was already deep in the other zone. There was a reason he lifted his elbow -- he should get more than Liambus did. Liambus's has been and could be (I think) perceived as either intentional or non-intentional due to the speed he was going into the end board and could he have stopped. I don't think this Cormier incident is grey....definitely black and white.
He's a disgrace to have worn the "C" for Canada.
Hope Tam gets better soon and can play again.

He never listened to Willie Dejardins and obviously he doesn't listen to the RN Coach .................and to think this is the guy Super Mario "really" wanted. He will listen in the Pro's or he will be buried in the Minor's foreverLemaire and Lamorello don't take any crap from anyone ............Kevin or no Kevin this guy has a few beatings coming his way . As far as this year........if Gilles Corteau has any Balls ........his Q Career is over because he is a repeat offender .

here here I totally agree, he should be gone for the year and playoffs. No need for it what so ever.

Just add Cormier's name to the list of other Team Canada favourites such as Steve Downie, Steve Ott and Brad Marchand who have all left us wondering about their behaviour a few times.

Just add Cormier's name to the list of other Team Canada favourites such as Steve Downie, Steve Ott and Brad Marchand who have all left us wondering about their behaviour a few times. Absolutely. Yet Hockey Canada as a whole passes itself off as so squeaky clean and choir boy-esque, especially when it comes to the World Junior team. You can add Stefan Della Rovere to that list too, although I liked him a lot better this year in his "Stampeding Elephants" role than I did in his first year there, where he was basically just a puke mouthpiece. PS - As much as I'd like to see Cormier gone for the season and perhaps playoffs, I'm getting sick of seeing all the people who want him "gone for hockey for good" or anything along those lines. As horrific as that incident was, it wasn't the first time a reprehensible cheapshot was thrown nor will it be the last. And I don't recall too many people getting "kicked out of hockey." Although some guys' careers were indirectly ended as a result of long suspensions for brutal acts.......... see Jeff Kugel as an example (if you've never seen what he did, YouTube it........... LOL). But in such cases, these were marginal players/goons only. A highish-end prospect like Cormier, or a star player (at the time of the infraction, that is ) like Todd Bertuzzi, no way are they out of hockey over something like this.

It's a shame that officials at the World Junior Tournament dropped the ball or made some kind of deal or something because if Cormier had received a suspension of even 1 game at the World Junior Tournament for his elbow in the Sweden game, the message might have had a chance of getting through to him!
deer, I have to say that I also was expecting Della Rovere to be Steve Downie like this year but he actually toned his play down. I will be honest in saying that I did not expect the team captain to be a source of embarassment.

i certainly hope that he gets kicked out of the league for the remainder of this year and hopefully next year too if something happens that he would still be in the Q.. Great pick up by Rouyn and then him doing this.. cery cery classy for Captain Canada

Even before any of his elbow-type indiscretions....... I was always befuddled as to why Canada chose Cormier as their captain.........
when Jordan Eberle, who's only the arguably most clutch scorer in Canadian WJC history, is 19 and was there for the choosing?!
