One rumour on the street is that Mario is seeking a multi-year contract. I hope it stays to seeking and not "offered."

I'd love to see the house cleaned. What guys would you see as a replacement to Mario? For me it would be Shawn MacKenzie. He was rumored to be coming here as an assistant to Pascal in 07, but he chose Mario insted. I know it's pretty far fetched but a guy like Gardiner MacDougall would be quite the coach to have. I just don't think he'd leave UNB. Money will probably carry more weight than who is actually available .Fabian will receive some consideration . I want to see "all new Coaches" and a seperate GM but The Board may be reluctant to do this .

Well, now that this misguided decision to go for it has "officially" ended we can all look forward to the June draft, er I mean, the 2nd day of the June draft?

Although I wouldn't want to see him leave Moncton as he is an important part of our puzzle, I would like to see him get what is deserving, he is too good to be an assistant IMO. Plus, he's gained experience from the best

Fabian with a good veteran assistant and a young French assistant seems like a good combination ..........................what about a GM ?

The most embarrassing day for this franchise since April 2004 - and it's honestly surprising the Eagles needed to re-learn this lesson so soon after that absolutely devastating one in '04. Maybe it goes to show how quickly we as humans forget, I don't know, but either way - it's bad.
This year this franchise absolutely got away from the awesome direction it'd been going in for several years, based on growing leaders from the ground up out of the draft and actually building out of born-and-bred Eagles. This year it seemed to be all about the quick fix, all the way, and totally ignorant of the fact this year's team didn't have the leadership or character of teams past. The inconsiderate throwing away of veteran players like Chris Holden, Mike Ward, and Myles Micallef only underscored what was wrong with the franchise's mentality this year - seemingly no consideration to what was right, just what seemed to be right for "right now."
Big slap in the face tonight with an emphatic loss in five games in the first round. Whomever orchestrated this mess should absolutely be fired. This franchise needs a cleansing - right now. Anything less should be met with absolute cynicism from fans - in fact, the franchise is lucky the number of fans who accepted their bs this year did.

Honestly feel bad for the hardcore Eagles fans out there. All of you saw how foolish it would be to load up this year and yet your management went ahead and did it anyway.
On that note I couldn't be more happy how things turned out for Mario Durocher and his regime. The Wildcats showed what a joke he and his team that he threw together was and quite frankly I loved every minute of it. Durocher tried to derail my team's season and he didn't even come close.
I hope for the sake of all the good Eagles fans out there that Durocher's last game as a member of the organization was tonight.

Good post, I echo those sentiments ... the Eagles need to show Durocher the door, and I can't think of a better replacement than Fabian Joseph - I am sure he would love the opportunity to go home, work with his brother, and be in charge of the Eagles.

Part of the problem in situations like this is the front office/board is quicker to listen to fans that come no matter waht and just blow smoke up their ass than the hardcore ones that know how the Q works.

Well I think these players under another coach and management team would have performed more consistently, and one of the most important things in building character is respect. Respect for this coach has been lacking from day 1. Congratulations to the 3 20 year olds . They played with honor. Legault was def the best eagle of the series. ( if we had him for 3 or 4 years- wow!!, now theres a player with character) out of something bad comes something good.

The games in Moncton he was the only one who seemed to care... He was always talking on the bench, in Game 2 he slammed his stick a few times, yelled at the players to wake them up and got nothing in return. He gave 110% every shift. The only other player who I seen yell at the bench was Ellis last night after the Cats scored... Other than that no player cared from the looks of it!!! Mario decided he would actually start coaching last night with 3 minutes left in the game... Called a timeout and used his White board for the 1st time!

Why not try the Bear as head coach he could do the job for sure and really has put in his time working with these others over the years.. BUT for now it is a great game and we can have the Battle Of Nova Scotia start at Lingan or Ashburn Golf Course...
