Why not try the Bear as head coach he could do the job for sure and really has put in his time working with these others over the years.. BUT for now it is a great game and we can have the Battle Of Nova Scotia start at Lingan or Ashburn Golf Course... Get serious! Bear Cat my ass.

Mario decided he would actually start coaching last night with 3 minutes left in the game... Called a timeout and used his White board for the 1st time! Maybe he was drawing up the quickest exit out of the parking lot

The most embarrassing day for this franchise since April 2004 - and it's honestly surprising the Eagles needed to re-learn this lesson so soon after that absolutely devastating one in '04. Maybe it goes to show how quickly we as humans forget, I don't know, but either way - it's bad. This year this franchise absolutely got away from the awesome direction it'd been going in for several years, based on growing leaders from the ground up out of the draft and actually building out of born-and-bred Eagles. This year it seemed to be all about the quick fix, all the way, and totally ignorant of the fact this year's team didn't have the leadership or character of teams past. The inconsiderate throwing away of veteran players like Chris Holden, Mike Ward, and Myles Micallef only underscored what was wrong with the franchise's mentality this year - seemingly no consideration to what was right, just what seemed to be right for "right now." Big slap in the face tonight with an emphatic loss in five games in the first round. Whomever orchestrated this mess should absolutely be fired. This franchise needs a cleansing - right now. Anything less should be met with absolute cynicism from fans - in fact, the franchise is lucky the number of fans who accepted their bs this year did. I don't think losing this series in 5 is an embarrassment ... you weren't the favourite going in. The embarrassment occurred when Mario decide to load up in Dec/Jan ... everything else going forward from that point was expected. Your team was not out-classed ... we never really dominated you ... just played a better defensive game and were the better team at 5 on 5. I have to wonder now if our next series might be slightly easier than this one was ? While we won in 5 ... there was nothing easy about it ... both teams battled hard for every advantage. The best part about last nights game was that the Refs did not play any factor in the outcome other than letting the teams play ... unlike game 4 where they played a huge role in the game for both sides. It was the playoff format that did you in ... but Mario knew all about that back at Xmas.

Sorry SteveUL, I have to disagree with you.
I believe it was the inconsistency in work ethic, the "Team" leadership, lack of discipline on and off the ice and the lack of depth on D that did this team in. These concerns were all evident before the trade period!
There is a huge difference between talent and character! Lessons learned after 2004 were clearly forgotten.

Who knows what Jersey has planned for Bernard ..............they might sign him ........then again ? Bagging groceries at Country Chicken might be an option after that pathetic series.

Good post, I echo those sentiments ... the Eagles need to show Durocher the door, and I can't think of a better replacement than Fabian Joseph - I am sure he would love the opportunity to go home, work with his brother, and be in charge of the Eagles. Out with the old ........in with the new ! That means a WHOLE NEW MANAGEMENT AND COACHING STAFF ..........ALL NEW FRESH FACES WITH FRESH IDEAS............EVERYONE FROM THE PRESIDENT TO THE STICK BOY............BYE BYE ! If Fabian's brought in, it'll be a house cleaning -1. But I doubt you'll hear much complaining if Blair's kept on as an asst.

That's the point some of have been making for about 6 months....it's no different because we lost to Moncton....some of us predicted this back in October/November.

I thought the Eagles were in it the 2 home games...the 3 games here they played well for 3-4 periods out of 9, but against good opponents you don't win unless you play 60 minutes. Part of the problem was 1-lack of depth and high end d-men, CB had no Savard or Barberio...plus #5-6 were barely Q calibre. 2-the big forwards that tried to play physical(Adam MacNeil Legault MacDougall) were also the ones that had to play 23-25 minutes and they only had so much energy in the tank.

This one doesn't sting like 2004 ! That Team was the most talented in the CHL not just the Q . Like I said before I never really warmed up to this Team all year . It was a Team ...........like Deer said "strayed away from the concept of what an Eagles Team should be" and for that Paul MacDonald , Mario and the entire Coaching Staff "MUST" be held accountable . Someone like Fabian ( who as a Player was all about hard work) will be tasked with bringing back what Greg Lynch insisted on after the 2004 debacle .

The team might not of been quite as good as 04 but we forget that the rebuild after that was helped out greatly by the fact was got Halifax's 04 1st out of the entire deal which ended up being James Sheppard. This time we lose earlier in the playoffs, are not going to return near the amount of vets or quality of vets as we did in 04-05, and have no draft picks.

now's the time for the Durocher slamming... go at it In Todays Cape Breton Post , Mario said "I really thought that the Winner of the Moncton / Cape Breton Series would win the Q ".................."The Cats will beat the Dogs"...............and in a backhanded way he is looking for some credit.........."Moncton playing us taught them how to play a Physical Team and that will serve them throughout the Playoff" . When is that Board Meeting ?
