What does everyone think of Marios comments today in the paper??
Mario has the rose colored glasses on as usual.
Funny thing is his future would have been more secure had he sold assets. Really a man who does not know what he is doing.
I think he made a few good moves and had the talent (players), but is a rotten coach.

As people predicted, Mario basically had us in the Memorial Cup this year if we beat Moncton. Crazy.

Good job by the Post asking some questions that needed to be asked. As for Mario's answers, they were really along the same lines of what we've heard from him all year. When asked about Roy and Meilleur heading out at the draft, he used his usual line, "Those are rumours." Exactly what he said in the days leading up to the Lagace deal.
Roy is probably heading to Lewiston as "rumoured", and I've been told Meilleur is actually going to Montreal, not Shawinigan.
Mario said we had to go for it this year because we had Luke Adam. That doesn't make much sense. Did Saint John "have to" go for it last year because they had Chris Didomenico, Alex Grant, and Ryan Sparling? Mario says "We had Adam, Roy wouldn't be back for 2012, I had no choice." Ummm..... wasn't trading for Adam at last year's draft actually a very specific choice.... presumably made by Mario?

Even if he's not allowed to answer that question, he can at least change his exact, scripted "Those are rumours" line - as we obviously see through it by now!

I don't know how everything works with all those draft picks, it's pretty complicated, but another thing to consider is that CB might have to pay Shawinigan more compensation because Michael Ward didn't play a single game as a Cataracte.

Dion should not have needed futures to acquire

I have to say I am absolutely sick and tired of reading quotes that guarantees roster spots to fringe QMJHL players.....and that's what I'm reading in having 3 lines, 5 D, and a goalie ready to go for the next TWO seasons.
Is this team purposely trying to drive fans away with this nonsense? I'm not sure how else to read into it at this point.
The only good part of the article was the quote "There's a lot of GM work to do in Sydney" because it's the loudest admission from Mario that he fucked up as a manager over the last 2 seasons.

It's no admission of that ! .............there's a lot more damage that he can do before he leaves ...........like screwing up the Locals before he summers in La Belle Province .

If you played just 1 shift this year I think you qualify as a somewhat secure returning forward or defenceman even if you couldn't be trusted to dress or play in the Moncton playoff series.
I have to agree with Jack Bauer past posts that there were a lot more valid reasons for going for it last year with that hard working TEAM than for for going for it because you have Olivier Roy and Luke Adam who really only "stepped up for the boys" in one of the five games. Mario showed a lot less allegiance to a group of true Eagles!
