Its much more... Malka is a seperate deal...the Roy deal is.. 5th overall pick Player now (likely 17 or 18 year old) Player at draft (probably a 19 year old next year). I heard... 1st 2010 Jones 2nd in 2011(going back for Arsenault) I heard Arseneau is involved as well, but as the player now, not the future.

He isn't drafted and if guys like Hoffman and Peterson can play in the league at 20 there is no reason to think that Lessard wouldn't.

Peterson scored 11 goals in Shawinigan as an 18 YO. Lessard scored 36 goals on the Titan team at 18 last season. I always felt surprised that he was passed up by a lot of NHL teams last season. If Lessard displays more of the same that he showed up last season, he could very well score 45+ goals next season...... Having players like Gilbert and Levesque on the team will surely help him.

A few comments on today's Post article: - Interesting to see that Jodoin and Boudreau-Plouffe have pretty much made the team 2.5 months before training camp starts! Durocher pretty much says in that article that they have spots. Granted, with Jodoin, he was our first pick in the 09 draft so you'd like to think he'd be a shoo-in to make the team his second time around or else he'd be a huge bust. But it's still interesting he has these guys pencilled in already. It shouldn't be surprising though - they're a couple of Mario's much-discussed "building blocks" for 2012. - "I'm not going to bring 18 guys to training camp. I'm not going to bring five or six overagers." Funny, because that's what he did last year. JC Gauthier and Brad Tesink were around a while even though they and everyone else knew they weren't in the plans. - With Meilleur now looking like he's headed to Montreal instead of Shawinigan, we sure paid a lot for PA Dion - who so far looks like nothing more than a third line calibre player. Then again, we also paid an extremely high amount for Legault and Lagace. Yet the year before, when the team was anchored by the leadership of lifelong Eagles like Culligan and Slaney, the prices were "too high"....... sigh........ we've been through this several times, I guess. - Very interested to know who's in the mix for the assistant coaching position. It's too bad John Hanna couldn't continue on, he seemed to be doing very well. Hopefully things will fall into place in the not-too-distant future that will allow Hanna to give QMJHL coaching another kick at the can. - Obviously Durocher did learn at least one lesson from last year if he's naming his captain as early as this weekend. Last season, as we all remember, it was left hanging until several weeks into the campaign - with Durocher eventually hedging his choice between two players, MacNeil and Ward. Leadership was a glaring hole last year, hopefully the early establishment of a captain this time around will go a ways toward correcting things on that end. My bet is Morgan Ellis. - As for the general theme of the article, it's the same old same old. Durocher says he's "confident" about the draft. He's always "confident" about everything, no matter what facts or hurdles happen to be in place. We were "confident" heading into the playoffs against Moncton, too. Maybe he really does have a couple of sweet prospects lined up, but what we are reading in the paper is just the usual company line.

So the Dion trade is essentially Lapostolle(1991)plus Meilleur at the draft(1990) for Dion?
I wonder if Shawinigan gets any compensation for ward not playing in the 2nd half?

Giving rookies guaranteed spots = very frustrating and is a complete 180 from the pre-Durocher era where no kids were guaranteed anything especially 6th rounders. Giving up Meilleur to MTL is now a double kick in the groin. Overpay like hell for Dion(Give me 1 year of Meilleur over 2 1/2 of Dion any day) but also means we overpaid like hell for Legault. And we all know how Legace's situation turned out. I'm not getting into particulars but I don't think anyone will argue that for a team trying to build toward May of 2012 we took the absolute most ass-backwards way of doing it then any team i've witnessed in my decade or so of following the Q. Scary to think of how well we could of been setup for the future if we traded down last season. Just add up what Adam, Legace, Legault and Dion cost and we probably end up with at least 5 or 6 impact assets for the upcoming season and 11-12. But Mario's confident....and why shouldn't he be? His boss is happy.
