Anything is possible because the Guy is Looney ! There seems to be no real Hockey Guy that he has to answer to unless you really feel that Burger Boy fits that description so he may ever accept that he doesn't have a shot no matter how unrealistic it may seem . He may act dumb again and then walk up to a reporter and say............." I feld dat Steph and Tayleur deserved a chanze to win and we tried to do dat but it didn't work out " . Until the Board gets tired of 2 Post Season Games or None , then he may get the boot ............BUT ............it won't happen soon because they gave the Genius a 2 Year Deal instead of a 1 or done !

The possibility of sneeking into the playoffs is there. The possibility of "loading up" for another playoff run is there. What needs to be done is come up with a plan to put the team in situation where it builds to be consistent. Hold onto draft picks and use them to build the team.

I recognize that Serge JR makes Mario look like the 2nd coming of Scotty Bowman but there was no need of us being in this situation ............... 99.9 % of the Hockey Fans on the Board and 75 % of those who attend Eagle Games on a regular basis , both Season Ticket Holders and Flex Package Holders plus the 15-20 games a year folks "KNEW" this was "NOT" the year to try to compete with the Boys from New Brunswick but unfortunatly Mullethead was given a green Light and he let his Ego run wild . Plus you must now factor in the people who are pissed about Roy being traded and this Team is in a tough spot .This years lineup better be a hard working one because the losing will be rough enough if they don't give 100 % the fans will let them know .

That given, is there any need to believe the board never had enough time to find anybody to replace him and they had to give Mario a deal as the draft was quickly approaching I mean its not like your just replacing a coach, your replacing a GM that was quickly needed. That given is there any need to wonder how much of that 2 years Mario will actually service out? I believe it will all fall on the first 20 games of the season to be honest.... Only time will tell I suppose

Only time will tell I suppose Not enough time? They were out of the playoffs in five games. As for how much of the two-year contract Mario will service out - answer is 2 years. Cape Breton hasn't felt the need to replace a coach since 1999. Why would you believe anything would happen based on 20 games in September and October? Nothing changed after the team was among the first bounced from the playoffs last winter.

he will last the 2010-2011 season, but what if the team does not get the 2012 Mem Cup? Does he leave Cape Breton or does he just leave the bench?

Mario was fighting most of the year because he wanted a 2 year contract and the Eagles were only offering a 1 year contract. My guess- he was selling the farm at Xmas in hopes of upsetting Moncton and making a run. That way he would look great and get his two year or more importantly get himself a better offer at another level which all Junior coaches look for. He was thinking like Mario "the coach" and not Mario "The GM". He knew all along he could get a one year deal because the Eagles brass never fires anyone. (See Pascal Vincent- THE great gm but horrible coach). As for 2--2, read the following---IT WILL NOT BE AT CENTRE 200. Take a look at the money at the ownership level in St John, take a look at the facility, look at the GM and the coaching resumes, and most important look at the team. Their playoff roster that went to the finals had 6 players from 1992 and 2 players from 1993. Not to mention they actually had 3 1st rounders in the last two drafts. The Eagles will be grounded for the next number of years. Look at the facts, we have one asset (Ellis) and no draft picks. "Making a run" towards 2--2 is laughable. I prefer "crawling towards 2014".

What ever happened to the time when coaches, managers, and players honored their contracts and didn't always try to get extensions or new contracts? Agree it will be tough to beat the money, building, and location of St. John, but rememeber that the Sea Dogs have only been in the Q for a short time, the Screaming Eagles have been around much longer. If alot of things balance out, the CHL can justify giving it to CApe Breton, because St. John's can get it next time around.

If you go by that logic though, Shawinigan has been around 40 years - much longer than Cape Breton. And surprise, surprise - they too are set up quite a bit better for 2012 than the Eagles are in terms of their roster.

That was the thing that really scared me this past Christmas when I looked at how we stacked up against Moncton and Saint John, knowing that the Eagles felt they could compete with them............ the realization that not only were those two teams much better than CB was last year, but they were also set up much better for the future - BEFORE we started throwing away 1st round picks in the ill-fated attempt to compete with them in 2010. Shit - Saint John had Beaulieu, Gagne, Galiev, Jurco, and Huberdeau all as 17 or 16 yo regular contributors last year. They'll still have them in 2012 when they're 18 and 19 year old vets.

Couldn't agree more. I don't mind losing but loading up to compete and mortgage the future vs. building for a position of strength for the future sickens me. We screwed this cycle up for years to come. If we get out of it quicker it is because of pure luck not smarts. So if I do read this right we lose our number 1 pick in 2011 for Legault as well. This is such a boondoggle of transactions. Mario needs to learn you can't make chicked salad out of chicken shit no matter how many mayonaise you add

Shawinigan is in the running also. I am just guessing St John because a Quebec based team had it last time. Maybe they want a Maritime team this time. Maybe Shawiningan gets it. I am not sure. However, I am sure about who will not get it.
