Noticed on the Q site, some teams have players showing up i their 'training camp rosters' and there are a few pretty good ones set to go to Eagles camp...
Players added:
Cap Caron, Mathieu G * 1993-06-25 6'01" 150 G Edmundston, NB Cap Watters, Kyle G * 1992-04-08 6'03" 205 G Lahr, Germany Cap Smith, Tekada RW * 1992-02-26 6'01" 173 D Scarborough, ON Cap Powell, Alex D * 1992-03-19 6'00" 205 G St.John's, NL Cap Millman, Blake LW * 1993-02-20 6'05" 240 G Toronto, ON Cap LeBlanc, Alexandre C * 1993-10-28 5'08" 145 G Moncton, NB Cap Grenier, Jean Kristoff C * 1993-11-21 6'04" 180 G Brossard, QC Cap Corriveau, Nicolas D * 1992-01-29 5'09" 165 G St-Hyacinthe, QC Cap Bennett, Corey C * 1992-04-10 5'09" 155 G New Glasgow, NS
Im not familiar with all of them but Powell should have a good chance of sticking around. He played for St-John's AAA last year, good size, makes a good 1st pass. Millman is listed from Toronto, but he played Midget AAA in Charlottetown, obviously a big kid, should compete in camp. Leblanc is a small speedy player who played for Moncton AAA last year, good hands. Bennett was the captain of Pictou Weeks i believe, small kid, but lots of heart, work ethic and ok skills. Grenier is my personal fav on this list, he played Midget AA for College Francais Rive-Sud, very good skills.

Ah, interesting stuff - thanks very much for pointing it out La La!
The Eagles do seem to have a recent trend of going into what everyone assumes is going to be a lean year........ and finding a few gems in training camp either through the draft or invitees.
This happened in 04-05, and 07-08. Both of those years the team was much better than expected, and those were two of the most rewarding seasons to be an Eagles fan.

Looney Toons wasn't running the show then though ! Keep in mind this guy already has publicly stated that a guy like Wes Herrett ?? is a CORNERSTONE ! Don't get me wrong it is good to be excited about this because that's what a Good fan does ............it's just different now because the guy running the show is as Nutty as a Fruitcake thus making you a little more guarded !

Any free agent hoping for a chance to play in the Q would probably feel that their chances of landing a roster spot were probably a lot higher at the Eagles camp this year! I'm sure there are some 20 year olds around the league, that would be optimistic about their chances as well because I'm only sure about 1 of our 20's, who was the subject of several trade rumors himself.
The pre-season predictions remind me a bit about the 2007 season but for some reason I'm not as optimistic as I was back then.

After the early playoff exit, Mario talked about the solid defense core (?) the Eagles would have this year and going on into 2012.
Despite that proclamation, since then he's added 2 more D with their first draft pick, Loic Leduc and with their Euro pick, Raman Hrabarenka.
You would have to think that any free agent D would have a very difficult time cracking the Eagles' now, 8 deep defense core!
Perhaps the Eagles can invite some free agent assistant coaches to camp as well?

I see where Samuel Cadet is on our protected list. Is that the same Cadet that was drafted by Moncton a few years back ?

He really looked out of place last year in training camp for Moncton. I kinda had high hopes for him before camp. But his play was horrible. Possibly, the worse Defensemen at camp last year. But in all fairness he was beside really good defensemen.
I think it was a good pick up for Cape Breton at zero cost. But I doubt he will play many games this year. He won't be anymore than top 5D in his 19YO season.

Few more players invited to camp ....
Nate Engert D * 1992-05-10 - 6'04" 205 - Red Deer, AB
Matthew Miller, C * 1992-07-21 5'08" 168 Sydney, NS
Christopher Saganash, LW * 1992-12-13 - 173 Val d'Or, QC
and from what I heard Mitchell Deruelle is also getting a try-out as well. He played with the Tradesmen for the past 2 seasons.

Not sure why he isn't on the website but Jake Guindon who played with Campbellton last year is going into the camp as well. He was probably the top player on the Tigers imo.

Miller is a slick offensive player, played for CB West...Deruelle should have been picked, good blend od size and skill, but lacks a bit of physicality and foot speed.
