Christopher, we've all learned that words such as "cornerstones" or "building blocks" and veterans don't mean what we thought they did but young Mr. Verronneau may be "The Key" to the Eagles being competitive next year!
If he can play like Pavs and Olivier did as rookies then the Eagles might be cpmpetitive. However, he certainly doesn't have the defence in front of him that they did.

I hope your right and Verrnnneau has as good or better second year than our past net keepers
MA.Fleury- 01/02 26-14-8 M.Houle- 03/04 34-15-1 O.Pavelec- 06/07 28-11-0 O.Roy- 08/09 35-12-3
I mean he havent had much of a first year but I suppose 3-1-0 with 1 SO and a SV% of 0.932 Isnt to bad but I just hope hes ready to see alot of Puck.

There is no way Verronneau will keeps his losses in the teens. Not a knock on him, but the team in front of him.

You know i am not expecting alot from this year just like everyone else, but this just might be an interesting team watch.. What do they have to lose? Verronneau could very well keep them in games.
Hoping for a few surprises at camp, but really to compete at all this team will need the chemistry of the past. Either way, great year for the kids to develop.

Will it really be a year for proper development to take place when everything is getting fast-tracked for the 2012 bid?

I tend to ask myself why i read these boards from time to time.. There is about 2 % positivity and 98 % negativity towards this team. I am not saying i agree with the decision making, or I actually like the way things have went because Id be lying.. But either way we are where we are, no matter how much you people cry and whine.
However, I do believe the recent additions to the staff will help the team. I do think Mario will respect what these guys have to say and as deer said in another thread, maybe its experience from a long time ago, its still experience. Great experience.
This year is about nothing more then getting experience and improving. Lots of speed, lots of youth, lots of jump, lots of grit, no pressure.
You can log this, and rub it in my face when/if im wrong, but i see a .500 team .
I just won't sit here and cry about how awful the staff is, i'm going to be positive and hope for the best!

Well out of my whole ramble, i did forget to mention i don't think that is even a reality.. I am sure he will realize that when we lose the bid too and change his route.

Listen Lady....... a .500 team doesnt get you a memorial cup bid, you can put Ron and Don along with Mike Babcock himself in the office and praise them up.... It doesnt matter the damage is done, No memorial cup bid, No Draft picks But ill give you one thing your right on is a .500 team Unfortunitly lucky for you you dont read these boards often, That just goes to show you, Same **** same pile now doesnt it.

Last year 11 teams managed to play 500 hockey or better. A strong "on paper" Eagles team had 87 points and finished 7th overall.. Halifax Mooseheads in their 2nd year of rebuilding had 13 wins and 33 points, at the bottom of the league.
Even trying to be optimistic, I can't see this team playing 500 hockey but for the sake of the players, I hope they prove me wrong.
I really don't expect to see the hockey summit group around Centre 200 all that often, maybe 2 or 3 times a year. They will certainly not be part of the day to day coaching effort! Your idea about Mario respecting and listening to this group is a nice concept, though.

Apparently you also buy into the organizations belief that nothing bad actually happened last year....some of us are still waiting for some blame. I hope the team wins all 68 games.....but hope and reality are 2 different things. I'll take the under on the 68 points though, with our goaltending we'll be lucky to win 25 games but I hope i'm wrong.
