He was listed on the roster sheet incorrectly...that was Chisholm. Terenzio was the goalie getting scored on left right and centre at the other end. No, wasn't that Jean-Christophe Roy-Boulet getting lite up?? Where did he come from? Never heard of him. Played for CAG, Same Midget team as Simon Desmarais.

Day 1 is over. Nothing to write home about but it's only day one. Regardless of the off-season training most of these guys have been doing there's guys who don't have their legs yet and timing will be off for many of them for a few days or so. It'll come together. Once they hit the ice for the pre-season games it'll be interesting to see how the rookies perform.

Nice for hockey to be back. Not the best hockey but it had some flashes and it was good to see the players... despite the usual of trying to figure out who is who. Why do they never have the goalies listed right on the sheet... Delmas and Corbeil played well but now I'm not sure who was who after that.
On D the you expected to be the better players were generally the better players.
Clarke was maybe the most noticeable. Had two penalty shots and made two nice moves scoring once. Played solid, physical and rushed the puck a fair bit. Had no interest in fighting.
Gillard played well. Stepped up a couple times to throw hits when the other team was running around throwing the body. Strong for his size.
Bishop and Lewis both had some good and bad. Lewis was more noticeable with a few big hits, ran over Randell with a nice hit.
Amyot and Abeltshauser played together a fair bit and were pretty smooth. Neither were physical but they were calm with the puck.
Hannay looks a bit bigger. Played quiet but tough on the boards. Poor #23 on the other team (Trider?) was up against him several times but wanted no part of him.
Desmerais... didn't notice him in the first but he seemed quite involved after that and I was impressed for a 16 year old D. Looked very strong on his skates, had a nice shot... looked confident and didn't back down from others.
Desmond had some flashes but didn't notice the other D as much/watch them as close. Kavanaugh has a good shot. Dimitruk was smooth and always wanted the puck.
Forwards
McGuigan was definitely one of the best hitting forwards and is one of the many forwards that played hard that will be in the talks for the final spot or two.
MacDonald showed some speed and had a couple goals... showed patience on one... can't remember the other. Played well.
Boudreau got rocked early and played timid for a while but got better as the game went on. He has a good eye for plays in the offensive end... finding guys and getting to open ice. He just has to make sure he stays involved and doesn't play too much on the outside.
Desjardin was maybe the best forward out there (played with Ashley and Andrews). Always involved, skated well and made some nice passes to set guys up.
Andrews scored a goal, seemed to play well in the circle.
Ashley I didn't see much early but got better as things went on and worked the cycle well with the two guys above. Made a nice play to set Andrews up all alone in front.
Grant and Bety both played well. Grant didn't have much luck around the net. Bety I believed scored on a nice wrister and played gritty. Bety was in McGuigan face when he laid out Randell. I get the sense Russell would like to have Bety on the team.
Randell was ok but didn't notice him a lot.
Gelinas had no luck but was flying and was slick with the puck and making plays.
Ciampini looks like he has a heck of a shot. Didn't see him a ton but looked good around the net when I did.
Ryan beside a bad giveaway late he played very well. Great size but also skates well and is good with the puck. Looks like he has loads of potential.
Souligny didn't make his presence felt as often as some of the others fighting for the last spot of two but played well and showed great hands with a nice backhand goal.
Warner was trying for the big hit a fair bit and playing rugged. Doesn't look as skilled as maybe some of the other he's up against (Davis/Souligny) but was the one that seemed to be looking for a fight the most (Clarke said no).
Davis was another player you can put on what looks like a long list of potential shit disturbers for the Moose in camp this year. He played well for his role. He skates ok... rock solid on his skates. Looks strong despite being quite short and I think that strength/grit/toughness gives him a confidence out there as he was ok with the puck as well. He laid out Boudreau and nearly took his head off... he was probably the most physical forward, he and McGuigan.
Dube (along with Desmerais) was one of the best surprises of the night. He looks very quick and was always making a play or driving with the puck. Played very well.
Turbide big young forward looks like he does a little of everything and is definitely set for a spot on the team this year. Reminds me a little of a young Randell except bigger and uses his size.
Overall some of the young guys played well and it will be grwat to see them in the actual preseason games. The last few forward cuts will be tough... there's probably 16-17 forwards that could play a role on this team.

Yup, agreed on Ryan. He really impressed me. He reminds me of a taller Ryan Hillier.

I thought he showed a willingness to play physical tonight almost at the expense of showing off what skill he has actually.

Ya I thought he played well. I saw him a bunch of times going into the corner hard, laying the body. He made a real nice move coming out of the corner for a scoring chance too. Went to the net with it. I thought he looked better the Ciampini. Ciampini wasn't bad by any means, but I was pleasantly surprised with Ryan. I don't know, maybe I just had really low expectations for him as a 16. I really like his skating ability, especially with his size.

I like Davis's physicality, of course, but I'm concerned that his reckless abandon would be a bigger liability than what he would bring to the table. He was going for the hit regardless of the situation, and wasn't exactly the cleanest of hitters (as evidenced by that rather nasty elbow on Boudreau). I also wasn't too keen on, late in the second period, as (I think it was) Desmond was fumbling with the puck at the blue-line without any backup, Davis skated straight past a loose puck (which, if he'd picked it up, he would have had a clear-cut breakaway), and leveled the dman along the boards instead, giving enough time for the defensive partner to come and clear the zone.
Of course, the sample size has been very small, and one should not be too hasty to jump to judgment, but I'm just concerned about his hockey sense is all.
Of the bubble guys, I thought McGuigan was the best of the bunch. He was playing a very gritty game, finishing checks when the time was right, hard on the back check, and looked ok with the puck. Him being only 18 should work to his advantage as well (in the hopes that we're through carrying borderline 19-year-olds in the bottom six forward positions). I could see him snagging a 12th or 13th forward spot, assuming he continues to play the same sort of game of not trying to do too much, but doing what he does well.
Wigginton/Belanger/MacDonald seemed to be out there every other shift in the second period, after what seemed to be a fairly pedestrian first for the group. Good patience by MacDonald outwaiting the goaltender on his second marker.
