if we are looking for a guy to protect the smaller players we have we need warner. just last week during camp Davis stated in a interview with the Metro that hes not a guy you tap on the shoulder to go out and settle scores. guess what??? this is the Q and every team needs one of those guys that are fearless with a ton of heart. for the most part those players arent the greatest skaters but become fan favorites for the willingness to protect and serve there teammates. Cam russell was one of those players himself for 10 years in the NHL so dont be surprised to see warner stick.

Bety will also step up when the need arises. There are guys who will step up when needed, there's a decent amount of team toughness so if Warner is cut it's no major loss but it is good to have a guy around like that - if there is room. Regular season Q fights: Hannay 16 Clarke 12 Bety 9 Grant 5 Desjardins 3 Lemieux 3 Amyot 1 Andrews 1 Gelinas 1 Lewis 1

thats a vaild point you make. Hannay is going to be one of thre toughest players in the league. BUT.... We are going to need him on the ice as much as possible. hes one of our top 4 D.... Clarke doesnt settle scores nor does Bety.... both will fight but WE NEED A GUY LIKE WARNER

If we consider Frk in the picture then that leaves: Ryan MacDonald McGuigan Souligny Warner Davis Battling for 1 or 2 (if they go 14 forwards) spots and Warner may be in tough there.

I get the feeling Hannay would chew up Warner in a fight, Hannay played that role last year and did well. Warner I think would look very out of place vs. the top tough guys in the league... the guy is 5'9" (and doesn't look the most fit out there) and I couldn't imagine him vs. the the top guys in the East and while he can play the pest role I don't think his skills are high enough to do that really well and get the non-fighters to fight him. I've said it before but I'd rather a guy like McGuigan (who pounded Warner in their fight), is more skilled and can play a very physical role. I'd probably become a fan of Warner in time but right now I like others for the last spot. Hannay will be a third pairing guy for most games... the top 4 seems pretty set.
