May as well start the game thread. After an opening weekend that was seemingly a tale of two Eagle teams - solid 3-2 win in Halifax followed by getting absolutely owned 7-2 in Saint John - it doesn't get much easier this weekend for our young Cape Breton team. We face two of the projected top teams in the league, Quebec and Rimouski. Tonight it's Quebec, who are 2-1 on the season and shot the lights out to say the least in their home opener last night. The Remparts are coming off a 12-3 win over Lewiston in which a few of their players had pretty ridiculous offensive performances. Their hired gun for this year, Joel Champagne, had a hat trick. New Euro Tomas Filippi had 2G 2A for 4 points. But the biggest show came from overager and longtime Rempart Jonathan Audy-Marchessault. SEVEN-point night for this guy, with two goals and five assists. In fact, Marchessault had his 7 points by the end of the second period! Coach Patrick Roy, always one to be gracious and sportsmanlike ;D, must have let his rookies and depth players have all the ice in the third - cuz the stars disappear off the scoresheet in favour of younger players. Had Roy just kept rolling his lines in the blowout (which he's done before ), Marchessault could have gotten even more. The most points scored in a single game last season was 8 - done by Tomas Kubalik of Victo. Kinda crazy that was almost equalled on the second weekend of the new season. Anyway, my point in going over all of that is...... hopefully the Remparts wasted all their goals on last night. That's actually quite often what happens - either that, or the red hot touch around the net just carries over. We're missing Ellis to the Habs' main camp, so without our #1 anchor on defense it might be an adventure trying to contain their firepower. I expect Lacerte to get the start. He had a great start last weekend in Halifax, while Verroneau struggled in Saint John. Furthermore, Lacerte was very good against Quebec in last year's playoffs for the Bathurst Titan. Seemed to thrive facing 40 shots in front of 12,000 Rempart fans. For so many of our rookies, it's their first Q game in their home province - there'll be plenty of family and friends in the crowd, exciting but probably nerve-wracking for the kids. Let's see how she goes!

Roy played his 4 lines during the whole game. Marchessault and Champagne were still playing with 3 minutes left in the game. However, he sent the third line on the PP. Lines: Filippi - Champagne - Marchessault Hinse - Roy - Rioux Walsh - Brown - Montreuil Lavallée - Campbell - Rousseau Wall - Tam Barnard - Lefebvre Duke - Doré Appleby Bolland Scratch: Culkin NHL camps: Domingue, Bourque and Hoefflin Let's see if our first line still has some offense left in the tank...

I hope you guys have the chance to see the new Remparts.
Intensity and skating.
We will be missing once again Bourque, Hoefflin and Domingue.
The rookies have a #
Filippi#-Champagne-Marchessault Hinse-Roy-Rioux# Walsh#-Brown-Montreuil# Rousseau-Campbell#-Lavallée#
Wall-Tam Lefebvre-Barnard Duke#-Doré
Appleby# Bolland#
Hope this one will be more tight than last night!
What are the projected lines?

I prefer the season finale in 2006, when you guys beat Rimouski 16-3 and Roy was still sending Radu out on the powerplay in the final minute. ;D Radulov had 11 points that game and was still rubbing it in with his fancy celebrations after every goal... LOL. Backed it up by being Memorial Cup MVP in May!

Radu was sent to tie the Pavel Rosa record of 155 points.
We always have a selective memory.

I hope you guys have the chance to see the new Remparts. Intensity and skating. What are the projected lines? What was the reason for a change in philosophy for the Remparts? Getting destroyed in 4 straight by rival Victo in round 2 last year? Or was it something that happened much earlier in the year, maybe the same thing that caused Roy to sell at the deadline despite being one of the top teams in the overall standings? Not saying I disagree with his choice to sell, it took guts!! Projected lines for CB: Stephen Horyl/Taylor MacDougall/Viktor Hertzberg P-A Dion/Brad Cuzner/Logan Shaw Olivier Jodoin/Vincent Boudreau-Plouffe/Cory MacIntosh Fourth line will be any combination of: Felix Bergeron, rookie brothers William and Alexandre Carrier, free-agent Jean-Kristoffe Grenier, and Nick Parker. Without Morgan Ellis, I'm not sure what the defence pairings look like. Also, overager Spencer Metcalfe left our last game in Saint John after blocking a shot and was not putting much weight on his foot. I don't know whether he will play tonight or not. Our other proven top-6 defencemen are: 19-year-old Jean-Sebastien Fournier, sophomore Stephen Woodworth, and our new Euro pickup Roman Hrabarenka. We also have three rookie defence: Wes Herrett, Nate Engert, and 16-year-old Loic Leduc. Leduc was our top draft pick in June but he's a bit of a project right now - needs to put on a lot of weight, and should be adjusted slowly to the QMJHL. Francois Lacerte should start in net - you guys know him well from last year's playoffs. We also have 17-year-old Alex Verroneau, who was a top goalie in Quebec midget last year before being called up to the Eagles after Xmas. He and Lacerte will battle the whole first half for the #1 job it seems.

What's more special about that game, is that Radulov wasn't feeling well before the game. He was on the floor and one of his teammates asked him what was going on and he said he didn't feel like playing that afternoon. How it would have been if he had wanted to play?

Thanks for the info.
Roy got tired of fancyness and the playoffs, it's a different game.
Everyone seemed to think we needed a philosophy change at the colisée.
The crowd is more involved too with the skating, the forecheck, the phisical play.
If I had 1 hint for the Eagles tonight, get the puck out ASAP.
The problem, is we have a very good mobile defence in Lefebvre, Wall, Tam and Duke who all liked to carry the puck. Even slowly Doré and Barnard seemed to follow the path of the others yesterday.

Radu was sent to tie the Pavel Rosa record of 155 points. We always have a selective memory. So you admit your Remparts embarrassed another team for the sake of setting an individual record. Not great karma!

I definitly agree on that.
I was there, the crowd was wild and everybody, Radu included wanted that record.
Rimouski had a Midget AA team and Radulov needed 11 points. Once it was in reach, he felt like the Colisée was his and nobody was able to get him off the ice.
That night was special, everything was working, deflections, shots and Esposito and Melanson were always looking to give him the puck.
We cannot really compare that.
Yesterday, our 4 lines played and someone who won't agree with that will be biased.

Just like Rocket Richard scoring 5 goals against Detroit after moving into a new house all by himself the day before, and only getting about 1.5 hours sleep? Only difference is Radu and the Remparts were playing what was practically a Jr AAA team - the Oceanic only had 10 wins that year!!

Watched on webcast tonight - very, very good effort by the Eagles despite the loss after the Remparts rallied late to salvage the win. Effort similar to the win in Halifax on opening night, only difference = we were playing a tougher team.
Lacerte stood tall in goal, looked very comfortable in front of the huge Colisee crowd.
Boys were aggressive on the forecheck, real good puck distribution. Teamwork and chemistry was there. Guys were blocking shots.
The game was very entertaining to watch for a September tilt. Fast-paced, intense, lots of great hits including a few beauty open-icers. Must have been a great game to be at if it was entertaining even on a blurry webcast.
Boys should be proud, on to Rimouski.

It was a pleasant game to watch. It even looked like a playoffs game.
First period was ok, both teams played safely, they didn't want to make the first mistake. I thought Lacerte was going to steal the game. Remparts completely dominated the second period but they couldn't score. The Eagles came out strong in the third but Quebec's goalie Jimmy Appleby stopped everything. Quebec's first goal gave them wings and the second goal seemed to seal the game. The Eagles just gave up after Filippi's goal on a breakaway. Lacerte isn't to blame for those two goals. Third goal was in an empty net. Champagne shot at the net and the puck wasn't going in but Fournier touched it and it went directly in the net. GAME, SET, MATCH. Lacerte was probably looking elsewhere when Barnard scored on a shot from the blueline with 4 seconds left.
Hrabarenka looks good. He was hands down your best defenseman tonight.
MacDougall was good too but he looked tired at the end as he played A LOT.
I also liked Fournier on defense, it's a shame he didn't have his chance to play regularly in the league before.

Good game by the big Eagles.
Very gritty team who fight for every loose puck.
I was very impressed by the work ethic

Can anyone tell me who assisted on Horyls goal?
And second part:
I REALLY need some help here. I don't have internet. I use a Blackberry (Curve, to be exact) and the new qmjhl site doesn't work on my phone. Anyone having a similar problem? Know anywhere else to view the scores/updates? Help, please.
