Wow. If true, that raises alot of questions.
Does that mean Horyl is finished or are we looking at moving MacDougall or Metcalfe?
Is Lacerte being traded? I assume we'd be keeping Veronneau.

Who knows what there next move is ? I quit trying to figure this guy out . Two things for sure , it is not Metcalfe ..........he gave up a top 5 pick for him and he is not trading Veroneau...........he's a Cornerstone .

You forgot who we are talking about here..................the fact that it makes no sense makes perfect sense ! Watch for a ringing endorsement from Paul MacDonald who most likely hasn't realized yet this guy will not be around for the Big Year ............next season !

maybe Durocher is paying attention to what Saint John and Moncton have done... and has forgotten to check the standings and switch the year over on his calendar
I agree if true it's a puzzling move but how can it hurt? Honestly?? You pick up an asset for nothing and move Lacerte at Christmas time?
maybe have Verroneau go down and play regularly until Christmas....

So is a 20 year old FA goaltender a cornerstone or building block for 2012?

The only way this move makes sense is that Mario has a deal lined up for Lacerte. Up till now Lacerte has far surpassed any expectations I had for him.
It still makes very little sense. Lacerte would have actually been an option for next year, now Mario will be going with Veronneau or have to use up more assets we don't have to find another goalie.
Lacerte can't be traded till X-mas? So Veronneau would be sent down till then? I thought that if we are going with this guy next year they would be playing him in at least half the games to get him experience.
Oh yeah, what does this tell you about what the situation is with Horyl? I have heard a number of rumors, but this can't be a positive sign. With the already lack of scoring on this team the last thing I thought we needed was a goalie. I guess that's why Mario gets the big bucks.

maybe you do have a deal lined up for Lacerte... certainly many teams in need of goaltending this year..... it is never a bad idea to have too much especially when in rebuild mode as you guys are
maybe Horyl is out longterm..... this buys you time
is it really a bad thing if Veronneau were to be sent down to play until Christmas? is it really going to stunt his development much???
I know you're pissed at Durocher, and in many cases rightfully so, but I think sometimes you are putting too much stock into every transaction in terms of 2012.... when I really don't think that should be factored into every move ..... as I honestly don't think you have a chance of winning that bid (and I suspect the higher ups in CB Eagle land know that too but can't very well display that publically right?)....
one way to instantly become more effective in the win-loss column when you are having trouble scoring is to get rock solid goaltending.... I don't know if Hayes will provide that but I suspect as a major junior veteran goalie with very solid career numbers he likely can.....

So is a 20 year old FA goaltender a cornerstone or building block for 2012? He is if you bring him in ... he stands on his head ... then you trade him to the highest bidder. Watching MacDougall play here on Sunday ... I think they could get a solid return for him on the market ... big guy with good hands, good skater, does everything well ... physically imposing. That is the type of player that you need on a championship team. What is up with Horyl ... has his injury ever been reported ? This isn't a dumb move ... he is a free asset that you can turn into a draft pick if he proves valuable. The dumb move is being a last place team and doing nothing to try to improve ... you might as well try a few FAs out ... might find something that you can turn into a draft pick.

The problem is WTF is our direction? When Mario trades Roy he says Veronneau is the guy. Then he picks up 19yo Lacerte to help (actually worked out so far). Then he aquires an average at best 20yo Metcalfe to help out the D (overpayed). Then he starts playing their 3-4 d-man Fournier as a forward to help with the lack of scoring. So knowing the lack of scoring problem, Mario gets us a 20yo goalie.
Sure Bois, having solid goaltending is great, but till now Lacerte has been 1 of our best players. So you reward Lacerte's play by bringing in Hayes to split the duties with. And I think that Veronneau should be playing more since we are rebuilding. Sending him down till x-mas, then splitting the duties with Hayes will give him around 20 career starts heading into next year.

Horyl's injury has been called "upper body", which could either be a re-aggrevation of a shoulder injury sustained last year or a re-aggrevation of a concussion sustained last year OR it could be another injury that I'm not privy to. Also, heard rumours of it being family-related. So, to answer the question, no, no one has any idea what the true cause/nature of the injury is.
