If I was going to rank the defensmen in order from best to worst (on how they are playing) than they would be... Amyot Gillard Clarke Abletshauser Hannay I didnt include Desmarais, Lewis or Bishop. That's about where I'd have them ranked too. Amyot plays the most minutes and has been good. Gillard plays probably the safest game, but I'm afraid he's going to get hurt - I don't know how many big hits he's taken into the boards this year, but it's a lot. I was expecting more from Clarke. He's been more disciplined (still team leader in PIMs) but he also seems to have lost a little something. I think the problem is that other than Desmarais, no one is really playing above where you'd expect them. It's still a young defence, and none of the 18 year olds have really stepped up yet into that #1 role. And a 16 year old playing like an 18 year old still isn't a #1 guy.

The thing I'm most excited for with this year's version of the Moose is that it seems we have the capability of pulling off an upset against a much better opponent in the first round of the playoffs. We have streaky goaltending, enough scoring, and a work ethic that's top notch. I would not want to be a top team and have to play the Moose first round. I realize we have to make the playoffs first. Fun fact. Since 2003, every year we've made the playoffs, we've lost out to the eventual president's cup champs. 2003 - Hull 2005 - Rimouski 2006 - Moncton 2007 - Lewiston 2008 - Gatineau In 2006 and 2007, we scored upsets in the first round of the playoffs.

Well if we are not in the play-offs....look out next year. Be alot of worried teams. Cape Breton would not be too happy, especially if they get the Memorial Cup. Halifax misses the play-offs...they get 1st or second pick overall. We already have Frk,Luca as 2 high picks, now add another first or second Midget draft player to that. Also we dump Konrad and bring in the new Euro first or second overall. Plussssssssssssssssssssssss........we Keep Randell we have 2 20 year old spots open to any player available. Who cares what lines we have, our cupboard would be sooooo full with trade options it would be almost sick the possibilities. Cape breton or Saint John or Shawigan would not have a chance in hell as being a host to win with a Q team with a cupboard that full. These teams would be behind the 8-ball to makes the proper trades to keep up.

It would be tempting if Frk goes nuts and emulates Nagy's numbers, but we want to base our franchise on Quebec. Never terrible, always competitive. That way we grow the fan base again and still have a year every 3 or so that we go for it. I don't mind flying out west for a week to watch the memorial cup anyway.

Not too often 16 and 17 year olds win you a Presidents Cup. Yes to other I do understand we'd have a bunch of 18's and a few 19's but I'm referring strictly to his reasoning. Also not saying Cape Breton would scare a lot of teams themselves.

Agreed, a top 2 pick next year such as Mackinnon wont help us so much in 2011-2012 but the year after which is where I see the Mooseheads being true contenders.

We aren't going to have a top 2 pick Any word on if there are any good goalies projected to go in the first round this year? I'm thinking out loud here but if we got a 16 or 17yo top flight goalie in this draft, he probably wouldn't be in his prime in our 'go for it' year. I suppose if we really wanted MacKinnon we could trade up to get him. We'll have draft picks to burn.

Also not saying Cape Breton would scare a lot of teams themselves. First off I really dont think we need to be worried about not making a play-off spot. I wrote my original comment because I thought it was a very stupid comment to say we may not make the play-offs. And yes a 1st or 2nd pick overall would be scary. A full cupboard would mean trading. Does not mean we would fill a team of 16 and 17 year olds. Use your head we would trade with some of our futures. A second overall and another player would get a Superstar 19 year old. Heavy price but prices can get high to win. Use some common sense when you read a thread.

We will make the playoffs. ;D Many times I'm optimistic because I'm a Moose Fan. But most people on here should have the Moose making the playoffs. I think Cape Breton has a strong chance as well.

Interesting that Clarke leads the league in both penalty minutes, and minor penalties. And some here say he's not taking dumb ones anymore. Well let me ask you, are the ones that have him leading the league of the "smart" variety?
Gillard gets smoked at least once every game. The kid either needs to learn how to take a hit, or start positioning himself better before he ends up in a wheelchair. How can one player get hit from behind so often?

How can one player get hit from behind so often? He must have graduated from the Ben MacAskill school of backchecking. He used to get smoked every game.
