Getting close to that time of year....with today being in the double digits for temperature and not a ton of snow on the ground, I am starting to get that golf itch. I figured we can have another golf thread similar to last year to discuss our personal game and throw in some discussions on the Tour.
I am still a n00b but love the game....this will be my 4th year at it my main goal is always to have fun, enjoy what the game brings....and of course try to consistently hit double digits. I started to come around near the end of the season last year but time ran out so I am hoping I can pick up where I left off. Going to try to get out more and try some courses that I haven't played (mostly in Moncton area).
On to the tour....quite an exciting finish last week at the Honda classic....Rory stayed strong and is now ranked #1 in the world when he had a few guys on his tail...including Tiger who shot his lowest Sunday round ever. Although he is still looking for a win for the first time in a while, Tiger has 4 or 5 top 5 finishes in his last 4-5 rounds. Would love to see Tiger and Rory go head to head on Sunday again.
Looking forward to today and this weekend when they tackle the Blue Monster....one of my favorite courses to watch in HD....and right around the corner...The Masters.
FORE!!

I don't have the same itch I did last year, but I'm still looking forward to it. Being my 3rd year golfing, my goal for this year is to consistently get in the low 90's and 80's. Last year I started horrible, then settled down, and shot a personal best 81 at one point, but had trouble getting even close to that again. Made some adjustments late last year, and looking forward to getting back out there again.

Oh lord, I have patches of grass in my yard now.... and with the weather forecast for next week, we could very well be left with no snow at all by mid-march.... that would be cool!

At the end of last year, I returned to the links after playing only one round in over 3 years.
I used to be a 1 over player (each hole), low 90's. I figured I would hit close to 115 the first time out but no. I actually drove much better (straighter) and played 2 rounds in the low 100's and the last 2 at 98.
First round was actually quite different than I expect (the back nine anyway). I hit 58 on the front 9 but got in a groove and shot 44 on the back.
I still can't chip to save my life.

Yeah, but I'll put a little pressure and you'll buckle like a cheap lawn chair.

The secret to chipping is similar to the one for putting , for the most part only your shoulders should move with very minor wrist action. Most people that struggle on chips usually have too much wrist or too much body movement. Using the proper loft club and choking down could also be minor adjustments.
