I just don't think you can call it a career year .... carve out a career first Florida isn't that crappy a team either he should be producing more than he has..... but yeah perhaps he will in the future I don't think anyone said it was a "career year" though, or that this year was looking like a great season for him by any standards....just that he should set "career highs" this year. All that was pointed out I guess was that he has tied his point totals from last year in far fewer games. Also he is 3 points behind what he put up in his rookie season in the same amount of games. Unless he completely shits the bed the rest of the way, or gets hurt very soon, its safe to say that he should beat his previous totals and set a career high. (for now)

(for now) the point tho is he had a solid rookie year but a bad second year... his rookie year was essentially a half year really because of the lockout... saying he sets career highs while probably true is a bit misleading when you factor in games played is all I still am disappointed in his NHL production as a Q fan..... but i'm also disappointed in Drouin and MacKinnon's production as well

I think his rookie year was a bit of a fluke, or lucky I guess. Huberdeau isn't a sniper. I don't think he'll do well in Florida or anywhere else until he gets someone on a line with him that can score goals. Any real success he has at the NHL level will be as a setup guy, in my opinion. If Florida has to keep relying on him to be one of their main guys putting the puck in the net, he's going to keep struggling/under-producing.

He just tied his season high in points established in his rookie season. (granted it took 1 extra game to get there)

I know it hardly matters as some guys ahead of him have played more games, and some guys behind him have played less.....but I was curious as to where Huberdeau sits points-wise versus other players from the same draft class. The answer is currently 7th. The top 10 from his draft class are:
1. Gabriel Landeskog - taken #2 overall - 165 points
2. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins - taken #1 overall - 164 points
3. Brandon Saad - taken #43 overall - 109 points
4. Sean Couturier - taken #8 overall - 105 points
5. Ondrej Palat - taken #208 overall - 103 points
6. Andrew Shaw - taken #139 overall - 92 points
7. Jonathan Huberdeau - taken #3 overall - 90 points
8. Mika Zibanejad - taken #6 overall - 80 points
9. Dougie Hamilton - taken #9 overall - 70 points
10. Nikita Kucherov - taken #58 overall - 65 points
Honorable Mentions go to:
19. Tomas Jurco - taken #35 overall - 28 points
33. Nathan Beaulieu - taken #17 overall - 9 points

Just saw this on twitter this morning. Jonathan continues to put up good numbers even if the team isn't the greatest.
To bad we couldn't draft or developed another player of his caliber.

Congrats to Huberdeau on becoming the first Florida Panther player ever to record 100+ points in a season. Also congrats on reaching the 600 career points mark in the NHL. p.s. Bonus points for accomplishing both tasks against the Leafs.

I think he needs 11 (?) assists to set the NHL season record for most assists by any winger.

More amazing than that though was the record was held by Joe Juneau? ?? I could have named every left winger I know in the history of the NHL and probably never had guessed Juneau.

Time for another Huberdeau Point prediction....
After coming off a historic 115 point season, he set a record for the largest drop off in points for consecutive seasons at 55 points. Although it is only 9 games into this season, he is on pace for even less than last year (45 pts).
Does he crack 50 pts this year? Will he ever sniff a PPG season again? How do other teams value him since he is now in his 30s on year 1 of a monster contract?

You're throwing a boatload of cash at a guy who had a career-best year at 30..... and it's long-term. There's no way that ends well. You're lucky if year one or 2 is good, let alone 3-7
