Even though MacKinnon got tangled with Ben Lovejoy earlier, I don't think Lovejoy meant to go knee-on-knee at the end. It was just one of those side steps that ended up looking worse than it was. Roy did go off the handle a little bit. He's gonna have to tone it down. MacKinnon's 1st NHL point: 2nd point: Fun stuff at the end of the game is shown in the TSN highlights: video.tsn.ca/?dl=main/latest/1/0/1016105/clip/02 assists in his debut. Tanguay had 3 assists. And the two Mooseheads combine for 5 points against the two former Titan: Francois Beauchemin and Mathieu Perreault. All is right in the world. Next game is Friday night at 9:30ast vs Seth Jones and the Predators.

Pretty nice assists from a kid who supposedly has no vision and no adaptability according to the haters.

Beautiful plays. His passing was always very underrated, everyone just painted him as a goal scorer and wanted to compare his vision to Drouin`s. It`s only been 1 game, but he looked alot like Q MacKinnon only at the NHL level. Fans are loving him already.

Congrats to Nathan MacKinnon on his first 2 NHL points.
It looks like it's going to be fun seeing Patrick Roy back in the NHL!

Congrats to Nathan MacKinnon on his first 2 NHL points. It looks like it's going to be fun seeing Patrick Roy back in the NHL! I think there might be some growing pains for him as well. He's probably going to get fined for his antics last night for pushing over the glass. Coaches yapping at opposite teams players is more of a "Code Breaker" than a rule breaker. Good question was posted on Twitter, about why MacKinnon was on the ice in the last 30 seconds of a 6-0 game. That's a good opportunity to control his ice time and limit his risk in a blowout. Although with him being the small fish in the big pond, the same would apply to Duchesne, Stastny, O'Reilly, Parenteau etc. Someone's gotta be out there.

I agree Roy will probably have some growing pains. He'll have to learn to tone down his theatrics; someone will likely talk to him about that. I would expect he'll get his emotions under control as the season goes along. Should be interesting to follow though. Having MacKinnon on the ice in the last minute of a 6-0 game is asking for trouble. You don't want some 3rd-4th line fringe player (or any other player for that matter) taking a cheap shot at him.

That's the thing though, before MacKinnon's shift, the Avs 4th line was on. MacKinnon is playing on the 3rd line so would you end up putting your top 2 scoring lines out in the last few seconds of a 6-1 game? Damned if ya do and damned if ya dont. I don't believe Lovejoy's knee was intentional and luckily he never fully connected with it.

League looked at the knee by Lovejoy but no supplemental discipline warranted. As well there shouldn't be.... non-issue really.
MacKinnon was the youngest player to score 2 points in his NHL debut since Ted Kennedy back in 1944. Interestingly, Aleksander Barkov is one day younger than MacKinnon. So he can do the exact same thing tonight with Florida against Dallas.

Perhaps a penalty but I agree, no suspension for Lovejoy on that play. Roy's theatrics were probably as much gamesmanship as anything else, just letting his new team know he has their back.

MacKinnon is on TSN tomorrow night against Toronto. Would be nice for him to score his 1st NHL goal against the Leafs. Or I could ruin the joke and say that if he's going to score his first NHL goal, he might as well do it against an NHL team.

With MacKinnon playing in Toronto tonight, expect tons of MacKinnon coverage! Would love to see him kill the Leafs

Not sure why Roy is playing him at center, he is a trainwreck in his own end. One shift in the 1st he gave up the puck twice and lost a couple more puck battles. They have Duchesne Stasntny and O'reilly taht can play center, would be easy to play MacKinnon on the wing for a year at lesat, maybe 2.

He, and his line, haven`t been very effective this game so far... he is playing much more tentative than he did in the first two games. He is playing center because he is projected as an elite center lol, and its what he is. Trainwreck is pretty harsh considering he was one of the better forwards in his first two games and Roy even trusts him on the PK. His line has played a pretty flat game so far though.
