Grigorenko assigned to Rochester on a 2 week conditioning assignment. So basically they have until after the world juniors to make a decision. I'm guessing thr Remparts would have a trade ready to go if he were returned, whether Grigorenko or Sorensen.

If Buffalo returns him after the trade deadline in January, Quebec can play with three euros.

If Buffalo returns him after the trade deadline in January, Quebec can play with three euros. I would still expect a trade. Just because they can, doesn't mean they should or will, considering all three are likely headed for the AHL next year (or NHL). If it were Halifax for example, then you may have a case for them to sit Meier, who's a late 17 with two more years left, and dress Grigorenko. But that's not Quebec's situation. I would guess they'd be trading somebody. A move made with next year in mind.

I wonder if another team could play with three euros if Grigorenko is traded to them?
Example: Quebec trades Grigorenko to Halifax tomorrow. Grigorenko is in the AHL, the goes to Russia's camp for the WJC, comes back from the WJC, the trade deadline passes in the Q and Buffalo sends him back. Technically, Halifax could dress Grigorenko, Ehlers and Meier for the rest of the year.
Last year, the CHL informed Roy that he could have player with three euros only after he traded away Kucherov.
The rule says that if a NHL team sends a euro back after the end of the QMJHL's trade deadline, you can dress him and your two other euros. We've never seen such a thing though.
It could happen for London too if Pittsburgh send Maatta back after the OHL trade deadline.

I could understand being able to keep 3 Euros on your roster if that happened but you shouldn't be able to dress all 3 of them together for a game. That's garbage. It would be like having the rights to a 20 year old player who surprisingly after the deadline gets sent back to the Q, so you're allowed to dress 4 of them. I don't agree with being allowed to dress 3 Euros in any circumstances at all.

where's the rule that says they can dress 3 Euros? For that matter, does anyone have a link to the rules about which Euros can and can't be traded, when you need to drop a euro vs. have a 3rd one on your list, etc.?

David Pagnotta ?@thefourthperiod 24m With regards to BUF's Grigorenko, I can confirm he will not be sent back to Quebec/the QMJHL after his conditioning stint. Will remain up.

I guess he is going...nowhere...
David Pagnotta ?@thefourthperiod 7h According to a well placed source, the NHL wouldn't approve Grigorenko's conditioning stint to Rochester. He will be heading back to Buffalo

Good news. Allowing a 19 year old to play in the AHL would have set a precedent I don't want set.
