Wasn't an overall fan. Started out good but lost interest by the end of the first season.

Going to start "Game of Thrones" this weekend. I'm not a big fan of the "period" shows or movies.. the kingdom stuff etc... but I love this series. Has everything - good acting, story lines, villains, and even boobs (look away if they offend you). Wish I was starting out for the first time too! Looking forward to season 4.

Finished the 1st season.....so thankful for the viewers guide on HBO: viewers-guide.hbo.com/game-of-thrones/season1/...really helped me out with the characters/families and map info and such. Reminds me of the PS3 game i have, "Skyrim".

I'm almost done the 1st one which is what the 1st season was based on. Everyone always says the books are so much better and I'm not saying they are right or wrong, but I really don't think I would be able to follow the books if I hadn't already familiarized myself with all the characters and wasn't able to associates faces to names. The book actually has even more characters (albeit minor ones) than the TV show.

Has anyone seen The Following yet ? Was really looking forward to picking it up but was told it wasn't the best... Started off great. Became slightly more and more unbelievable as it went on. Level of violence/blood was more than you normally see on network TV. James Purefoy is really good (check out HBO's 'Rome'). Also, Justified season 5 premiere is tonight.

I think it says a lot of the state of sit-coms now a days (and the age of the people on here). :-)
I read through and no one really mentions comedies anymore even in the Top All time. If this was done 10-15 years ago you can guarantee that one of Seinfeld, Cheers would come up in over 50% of the replies.
I still watch Seinfeld and Cheers on reruns and they are timeless and can be relevant. Today's comedies are over scripted and unrelatable.
I don't watch much TV now a days (3 young kids under 6 years old keeps me busy)....but here are my top:
Current Anything NFL related Top Gear (the only show I DVR) - The original not the stupid US version The Weather Channel (US one)
When I have time: Archer / The League / Always Sunny
All time: Top Gear - The best was the Vietnam Special Seinfeld Arrested Development Mad Men The early years of the West Wing - the writing and ensemble was really good...went down hill in the later years though

I bust a gut watching this sometimes.....

I love comedies but there's not that much quality lately, Big Bang Theory being the only one that I really watch. How "Two broke girls" stays on the air is beyond me.
Seinfeld was and still is my favourite. I also really enjoyed Cheers and Soap. MASH is another one that I still enjoy with it's mixture of goofiness and very serious moments. For the older folks, The Carol Burnett and the Benny Hill shows were awesome!

yeah sitcoms sorta died after the early 2000s...... alongwith basic cable programming as a whole really
there is no single sitcom on the air anymore that i care whether i see or not.. Big Bang Thoery is good but not can't miss good
when i was growing up i looked forward to certain nights because of the sitcom lineup.. Thursdays was always good for laugh tv

Heard Orange is the new Black is a great series. Would love to get some feedback before I buy it.
