Wow. You ladies are a true old wives club of armchair experts so busy patting your selves on the back for your asinine posts. First of all you want to change the Memorial Cup because Quebec couldn't get the job done and choked...waaah, Then you want to change the draft because a 16 year old tries to dictate where he will go on draft day...waah. now the NHL draft and the rules where an underachieving first round draft pick can play because of Drouin...WAAAAAAH. Drouin didn't report to the Mooseheads because he didn't feel ready for the Q. He came back from his first pro camp back to Halifax and played half speed because he wasn't happy being sent back. Now he is in and out of the lineup in Tampa...shocker. Talent is one thing heart is another. So is maturity. Lots of players dominate junior and go nowhere... So that is a stupid point. It is laughable that you treat an opinion board as your own personal domain where anybody who doesn't agree with you or knows you are full of shit must be a troll. Who said anything about changing the Mem Cup format because of Quebec? That debate comes up every time a team has to play 3 in 3 against the countries best in a championship tournament. Nobody has ever successfully debated/argued in terms of changing the midget draft because of players declaring NCAA. Again, same argument comes up every time. People like to discuss it. Clearly you have no history here and hate discussion that YOU disagree with, how much of a hypocrite are you exactly? And nobody wants NHL draft rules changed. They want an adjustment made to a rule put in place to benefit the CHL that actually may be hurting exceptional players. We encourage exceptional players skipping levels at 15 but not at 19 with the argument made for the 19yr old increasing the calibre of those around him at 19 but the same argument isn't made for the 15yr old. I think that's a little bit crazy, honestly. So Halifax Moosehead players would benefit more for Drouin playing there at 19 then Drouin himself would by playing in the AHL. But Saint John Sea Dogs players benefit more by playing with a 15yr old Veleno then a team of 15/16's playing Midget in Quebec. I find that to be a clear double standard and in my opinion the exceptional status, which can be based on draft position or an organization declaration on any 1 prospect, should apply to all exceptional players who can benefit from being an exception to the rules. Pointless to argue any of this with you, I know. You'll argue for the status quo everywhere and completely ignore the facts that changes are debated and adopted on things like this on a constant basis. We used to have only touch icing. No overtime. No shootouts. No helmets. No indoor plumbing. People evolve. Their hobbies evolve along with them, constantly changing and improving. The laughable part is someone trying to come off as holier then thou yet lacking the ability to string together enough words in a coherent sentence to argue for the things they may believe in and instead resort to personal attacks and childish insults as if you are either a child too young to know the difference or a senior citizen too old to care. But continue to embarass yourself, please. Clearly you're so much smarter then everyone based on the consensus here that your constant name changing and trolling posts add so much to any discussion you're in.

Ironic statement considering you getting a hard on from trolling Moosetalk 24/7 Really am I getting a hard on? I stated an opinion...which is what a forum is for...and is not trolling. Guru actually makes a more positive contribution to these boards than you do.

Not sure what the issue here is.............. i actually sort of agree with joemepoutinecoleman or whatever he wants to be known as now
Drouin looks completely lost out there when he does actually get into a game..... i'm sure his confidence has to be at a low after having such a mediocre rookie season after all the pre season hype almost giving him the Calder trophy before the year ever started
Is it his coach? I don't know..... hard to really suggest Cooper insists on defense when he coaches such an up tempo team as is... and has several very young talented forwards already in place
The rule is in place for the CHL not for the hockey player..... I don't know that Drouin would have benefited much from playing in the AHL anyhow............ maybe we'll find out next year

A rule in place to benefit the exceptional players should benefit everyone as long as the exceptional player is able to develop properly. Everyone wants to use a current example to prove that point, but what about all the potential lost due to the current rules? What if a James Sheppard or Pierre-Marc Bouchard were able to develop in the AHL at 19? Would/could they be better for it now? Based on the talent going through the LA Kings farm team it's hard to believe a lot of players wouldn't have benefitted from having that route available at 19. Ehlers next year is another who has Q or NHL as his options. Too good for one, but maybe not good enough for the other. Whats the harm in him playing 60 AHL games and get into 10 NHL as an injury replacement rather then sitting for 40 NHL games in order to keep him out of junior? I think there should be some flexibility. Not a blanket rule for all, just something similar to how we let the odd 15yr old into a CHL draft because of how it can benefit them individually. And the bigger issue with this poster is posting the same childish remarks on topics they're not willing to have any discussion on. This "my dad is tougher then your dad wahhhhhh" nonsense is childish. Have a real discussion with some opinion. Present some example of players who may or have benefitted from the rule the way it is. Defend your stance. He does none of that, bois.

Oh i'm not defending the poster..... but merely the post in this case...
the reason we have 15 year olds who might not be good enough yet and 19 year olds who may be too good for the league is the same..... it's to protect the business of the CHL.... it ain't minor hockey it's a business... the rules to get star players out of the league faster will never be changed
I think the rules are fine for the most part anyways..... using Sheppard and Bouchard as examples i don't agree with either... they were both rushed to the NHL too early for sure but I don't think either would have benefitted from AHL time anymore than any rookie might..... but they both could have used another year in junior using hindsight
I won't be shocked to see Ehlers struggle next year if he stays in the NHL fulltime either.... he has more warts on his game than Drouin did at same age......
I said it before.... will say it again... Tampa picks Seth Jones instead of Drouin and nobody is having this conversation... he just wound up in wrong situation as it turns out.... too hard to crack the top 6 in Tampa.... and out of place in bottom six

Both were too good for the q at 19 but with only 1 option outside of it. If they could step into the AHL and make a more gradual transition I think it could help the same way many players seem to benefit from a year or 2 of AHL hockey. I agree fully that Tampa made the wrong pick and was in my opinion trying to replace St. Louis rather then draft the best player available at the time. Do we know what the rules are if Winnipeg wanted Ehlers to play in Europe at 19?

I really don't recall Sheppard being absolutely dominant as a Q player.... i know you saw him alot more as a Caper... but I always thought he had too much hype and not that much sizzle
I don't see him as a comparable to either Ehlers or Drouin as Q players to be honest

There are just guys ahead of him on the depth chart and CBC said that Cooper doesn't have the trust in Drouin's defensive game but most young players are in the same situation. I take issue with THE, JOE POUTINE, WHATEVER coming on here and saying his problem is between his ears. Drouin has great vision and a high hockey IQ... like WTF!!!! Posters like this clown are what is ruining it for everybody.

Drafted 9th overall. Ehlers played on a weaker team at 18 and had 101 points in 51 games. Drafted 9th overall. Not a big difference number wise considering how dominant people consider Ehlers to be.

Something tells me he had a 5 or 6 goal game here that pre-season as well vs Halifax. I want to say MCT was the goalie and Sheppard looked like he was playing a bunch of pee wee kids.

I think Kennedy was in nets and yeah it was a 5 or 6 point game for Shep. Just total domination.

Second hockey sense and life sense are two different things. Did he tank after being sent down to Halifax? Didn't Tampa send representatives t meet with him and tell him to get it together. are those the signs of a mentally strong player? When you are done playing drama queen maybe you could think about that...
