Unlike you we are not part of the team. Does not matter what we do wont change the outcome. You can cheer them on in VD when you are there. Seriously that is your response? I agree it makes no difference but hilarious how people are thinking ahead to next year. People did that before the year and most of the year. What is hilarious is you caring, which you don't except side tracking threads. I love the fact your on here despite no invested interest in the Mooseheads.

Lol If I posted every year I'd ask why people are thinking of the next year during the playoffs...

This better win post of the year. Well done. You can show how much you like it by using the "Like" feature that is now enabled on the board. ;-) Thanks to the most horrible poster to ever visit Moosetalk.

Can't see Dom Back Either looks like with his Q Resume he'll likely land a job. It's an unreal Resume there's no question, but it doesn't seem to matter really. He doesn't seem to get any respect out side of Halifax. Look back to when we were looking to hire a new coach. He was the number 2 guy. The guy that was rumoured to be the front runner was JFK Houle if I remember correctly. Dom sort of came in as a no namer and an unknown. All he has done is win thou. But like I said it almost feels like he gets no respect outside of Halifax. I hope he does get a chance at the next level, just not sure he will.

I don`t agree with that... he was named as coach or assistant on the subway teams, and Dale Hunter chose him for the U-18`s too which won gold. If I am not mistaken, he was entertaining AHL offers last year also but chose to stay at this time. I think he will move on soon enough.

AHL positions and NHL Asst positions will be opening up soon enough and he'll be on a few teams lists. When he was signed by Halifax ... he hadn't already won a Prez Cup and Memorial Cup. Those wins ... and 3 long playoff runs ... have put him on the map.

The only rumour I remember from the summer was him maybe going to Quebec to replace Patty. And he came back and said the only place he wants is Halifax. I could be wrong but I don't remember any AHL talk beside people saying he should get a look.

I'm sure Ducharme is paid very well in Halifax and has a pretty good thing going right now. He probably likes the way that Russell is running things and so he can be confident that the team will get back to the top in short order. That means he has pretty good job security.
When you jump to the AHL or NHL you don't get that same job security and you may find yourself moving around yearly ... uprooting your family (does he have a family ?). In the NHL, your job security is tied to the GM, how deep the team's pockets are, the Head Coach you work under, and the roster of players you have to work with. If a job is open, chances are that they weren't happy with the past season performance and so changes are made. I'd be more interested in stepping into a job that was vacated by an Asst that was offered a Head Coach role somewhere else ... rather than taking over from a guy that was let go.
If I'm Ducharme ... I'd have to look closely at any offer that takes me up to the next level and decide if it puts me in a better position than where I am now.

He does have a family so obviously that would count in his decision.

He does have a family so obviously that would count in his decision. He does have a family that live in Quebec. His wife is a pharmacists and I believe owns the pharmacy so that's why there were rumours or talk about him coaching in Quebec. So money isn't a huge factor in anything he does. Between the two of them I think they make out just fine. Knowing this too I think unless it a chance at the show I don't see him moving on. The AHL might be to far for him because he does go home durning the season when he gets the chance.

You will see Dom get his shot. I disagree on he's not respected. I like there a bit weary with the Good teams he had over the years in Halifax. They want to see him with a Young team to see his full potential without the likes of Drouin and Mackinnon Frk

I believe Dominic Ducharme has an out in his contract, if he does decide to accept a pro position. I also believe Steve Hartly has turned down a couple head coaching job offers in the Q, granted one was Bathurst. Speculation purely, but reading between the lines, Hartly wants the head coach job in Halifax when Dom leaves.

He does have that in his clause. Steve is no doubt Be most likely the man that Cam would target. As they say in Junior Hockey there's always a turnover. Be tough the see Dom go But he definitely earned it with all the success in Halifax. It will be interesting to see Who will be back next year and who will not. Shaping up to be a interesting off season for Halifax.

So might as well get back on this post. I will say that game 7 kind of ended the year with a bad taste in my mouth though. Around Christmas I did feel like this team would even get this far. But then that 20 game winning streak sucked me in and I started to believe they could win the league. So I guess to me it was a prez cup or bust.
Ok now that that's over let's start the "reload". There was a long stretch of the season I thought Drouin was looking at another year here. But after the world Jr's it seemed like he bought in and realized he was here so let's win. These playoffs prove that. But if some carry was happens and he gets sent back I don't think he gets the chance to ware a moose sweater a gain. Cam needs to cash that check fast.
That bring me to another player that up until the playoffs I said he would be back here next year. Weegar had a great season don't get me wrong but during the season I just felt he wasn't fully polished yet. These playoffs I feel he has shown that he might have out grown the league. In saying that I also think his offensive stats are slightly inflated because he leaned on Drouin a lot. I would like to see what he has to offer with out such a player. I'm not sure where he will be next year but if it's in the Q this is the Mooses 2 mad biggest trade chip. Cam needs to cash in on him. If Weegar is back next year he might very well be the best D man in the league. He would be able to fetch a 1st rounder at lest. I'd push for a 1st and a 17yo tool guy maybe. You know someone like Shewfelt.
Your biggest trade chip is Fucale ( if Drouin doesn't come back). Cam has to cash him in. When might the best chance for that is the question. I personally think he'd be worth the most at Christmas time but some team might be willing to pay big at the draft. I just think if we wait and a team that didn't think they would be in the hunt and need a goalie at the dead line will pay top dollar for him then.
Now to the 20 year olds next year. Darveau and Lussier are both players that will be looking for spots in the CIS somewhere. As I said Weegar is traded if he comes back for sure. So I think it down to 4 players. Gadoury and Hardie are locks. Gadoury will be one of the teams top scorers. Hardie has had an A the past 2 years so I see him getting the C plus how thin we will be on the back end. Now here's where it gets interesting. If you asked me befor the playoffs I would have told you the 3rd 20 would be Ryan 100%. Now though I have to say Caimpini might have played his way into the picture. He had a really good playoff over all. Ryan didn't play to bad either but if Cam gets a good offer for either one of them I think you take it and we'll go with the other.
About the draft. I know the whole best player available argument but when you have the 21st pick I think we need to go with a goalie. We need someone to carry the torch from Zach. We also need some help on the backend. Our forward crop is still some what deep. Another option is we can take maybe a defensemen in the euro draft which we can do if Ehlers goes in the 1st round of the NHL draft. Them if Ehlers comes back maybe trade him or Meier and bring him in. Or it could be a guy that has no interest in coming this year but maybe next and at that time Ehlers goes pro.
