Any word on Falkenham? Will he be good to go for training camp/beginning of season? I think he was good-to-go in June. I don't have the impression that he'll miss anytime this season.

Yesterday's move makes thing interesting. I love it personally. Lovell just never really got going if you know what I mean. He was behind some very talented players mind you but still never got to be the player people thought he could be. Maybe in one hand he is what he is. I do think he can bring a little more to the table but I was hopping this trade would have happened at the draft.
This move now opens up a spot for an extra guy that I was thinking should be here but would be on the outside looking in. The guys I thought were bubble guys going into training camp were the Worthen, Josh Fitzgerald maybe even Taillefer. I was thinking only 1 of these guys would make it now I think 2 of them will. If Marino doesn't come they all could make the team. We all know the locks are Murphy, Lussier, and Hardie. I think Ford is giving one spot, they seem to think highly of him. Cavan should he can play in the league so I think he has a spot to lose. Oh and as for Jacques spot I think he lost it. I really don't think he makes this team. The regular season he play so so but the playoffs he was god awe full.
Here's how I see the defence looking come opening night.
Murphy / Hardie Lussier / Marino Ford / C. Fitzgerald Then you have Worthen and J. Fitzgerald sitting in the press box.
In saying all that a guy I'm interested in watching and seeing how he plays this camp is Argento. He's got good size and his number in midgets seem alright. He's the one 16yo that I think might be a dark horse to make it. I have no real reason to think this it's just one of those gut feelings on him.

I'm not sure which of your picks he replaces - but he was very close to making the team last year and should make it this year.

I remember he looked good but he was cut early last year so I don't know how he almost made the team.

When is the camp roster released who's coming to camp FA and such? Check on the Official Mooseheads site, I think it was released on there a while ago. Could be mistaken.

Ran into Bobby Smith over the weekend. Asked him about Marino and his chances of staying. He basically said he's frustrated with the situation and isn't very optimistic.
From the way he was talking I didn't expect Marino to even come to camp, but they just put the training camp rosters up on their website and Marino is listed and assigned a number so it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

Not good news, but you'd think the Moose would learn by now not to spend a high pick on a guy that isn't a super lock to report. If they were going for it this year, then yes I don't blame them for the gamble. But Marino probably won't even be on the team when they're good again, so why take that gamble this year?
Hope he reports, but not getting my hopes up.

Can't believe they would do this again and take an American who they didn't know would report 100%. Let at least we have some other good young D men that are trying out.

Marino is definitely coming to camp from a source inside the moose. From what i was told it sounded like he was forgoing college to come to play here.

I have no real reason to think this it's just one of those gut feelings on him. When you only have 3 returning D, you simply can't have the best 2 as your #1 pairing. That would leave your 2nd and 3rd pairing a tad weak and vulnerable. I think you have to have Lussier with Murphy, and have the defensively sound Hardie with a rookie. Lussier is not horrible in his own end, but he also isn't outstanding. He does have an offensive upside, but can get caught out of position once he is up there. That could be a problem if he is leaving a rookie back there to cover for miscues. Personally I think we will struggle on D, with the top 3 logging a tremendous amount of ice time. Rookies will be slow to develop, and in our division there are teams that play an aggressive forecheck and physical game. Moncton, PEI and CB all gave us some fits at times last year with their gritty play. expect that to continue, as there players have matured and they have made some trades as well. It will be unfortunate if Cam sees the need to get another veteran D. I don't mind the struggling, as we should be in a bit of a rebuild. It is not ideal in a somewhat rebuilding (maybe re-tooling a better term) to have your only returning D - 19, 20, 20.

OMG Fitzgerald looked awkward out there last night. I really do feel for young players, but it was like "Please God, don't let the puck come my way" every shift. I felt like I was on the ice LOL.
