I saw Michael O'Leary also followed CBSE on twitter.
CB is going to be full of rumors this summer.

Maybe Dumont mighe be pylling another rabbit out of the hat with Weezy as he did with Darcy. Weezy is an 18 year old defenceman, right handed shooter with good size. Maybe Dumont has a deal in place with him to report. Nice to see he acknowledged being drafted.

good pick up in Colby Muise. He isn't in that top class but still a solid midget goalie. I'm very high on this kid. Totally underrated due to his locale and the fact he doesn't have any highly touted defense in front of him. Funny how having Q-quality defense makes a goalie look good. ; ) He has the most rounded game of all the '98 goalies from NS. He probably should play another year Major Midget or, if Yarmouth can give him 25+ games, he should play Junior A to develop his craft and grow another inch or two. When he walks into camp in 2015, you may very well have your goalie of the future. No point in having him sit on the bench watching your starter all season. Sullivan is an excellent journeyman goalie to help plug the net when your starter is out.

I don't have an inside loop on that, but I would definitely not be surprised if they did. The goaltending situation in Yarmouth is very tenuous right now. They have two over-agers who may be moving on, in one way or another, and it can be hard to encourage out-of-town goalies to go down there to play.
It is Colby's home area, so there is no relocation issues for him and in a couple of years, he'd could be a stud in the Junior A league.

Anyone know if there is any top notch goalies slated for next year's draft? What's the difference? That player wouldnt be a #1 until 17-18 and best case scenario is watching the 2016 playoff run from the bench. This team is going all in over the next 2 seasons. Luckily there's enough assets that after that we can focus on the next run but today that's an eternity away with how things can change in this league. Good point JB as usual. Never thought of that. But yes we will need to trade for a goalie again next year if we plan on contending. Overall happy with yesterday's events. Would have loved to grab Fitzpatrick but wasn't meant to be. Dumont did a great job.

Really smart way to gamble then. O'Leary was probably the only player left on the board who could have came in and made an impact on this Eagles team. Worst case scenario, he doesn't report and you get another pick for him next season. (And then Halifax grabs O'Leary in the draft with a late pick ?)

Worst case scenario, CB forfeits O'Leary's rights and picks #15 overall (if I'm not mistaken) For what it's worth, O'Leary re-tweeted a couple people that acknowledged his selection You're mistaken. For compensation of the 14th pick of round one, you get the 14th pick of round 2 (#33). Halifax as an example got the 15th 2nd round pick (#34) for compensation on Jack Eichel (15th overall). Another thought here, is Halifax drafted Erne knowing he was going to Quebec, and then traded him to Quebec for added value. Could be a similar situation here also. Actually there's more to it then just this. It all depends when the team decides to get compensation for the pick. If you go the mooseheads way with Eichel they declared a week before the draft (which is the dead line to declare) and got 1 round and 1 pick later. If it's like the Roy thing again if you declare before the season you get 4 picks after the pick. So they will get the 18th next year. They made changes to the rule this year on it. I think the biggest change they made was there's no 2nd rounder to it anymore if I remember correctly. I'm not fully sure on that part though.

They can't they change the rules and now he can't be picked again till the next draft. In this case it's his 16yo season so he gets dropped he can't be drafted for his 17yo season. He can only be drafted for his 18yo season.

Everything I read says you release the players rights a week before the draft and they re-enter the draft but I know the QMJHL likes to change rules.

Yea that doesn't make any sense... Why would a player become ineligible for an entire year?

I can't find it any where but I remember one of the last Board of Govenors they changed the compensation to 4 picks later then the pick was made the following year. At first when I heard it I thought it was dumb move too but now it forces the players hand. It's one of those if you don't play for them then you can't play for 2 years. It's really only way the league can make a player report to small market teams. And also in Eichel's case another team can't just steal him for nothing.
