Just a sort of random story about the CB Post, they actually copied one of my posts on here directly in to their article on the trade deadline day. Quality work they're doing, lol. Sounds about right. That paper has fallen off big time and there really isn't a go-to person that covers the team like a Willy Palov.

Hey folks
I'm from PEI and I'm wondering how the Island boys fared out at inter squad game.

Phelix Martineau really stood out tonight in my eyes. Kids got some wheels and is certainly not afraid to drop the mitts. Nice goal by Brunelle as well, good to see he can put the puck in the net as well. I didn't find Tower stood out to much tonight. Also, I think Deschamps is going to a leader for us defensively this season.

Team White won 6-1. Martineau had 2 goals and was probably one of the best players out there. He should make the team as a 3rd or 4th liner. Lazarev had a goal and a really pretty shootout goal. Team whites goalies impressed which was Sullivan and Muise(Shutout). Dubois seemed a little lazy and Lalonde played sloppy. Liked Bell's play tonight. Deschamps should be on the top line for defense. His defensive play really impressed.

I'm kind of surprised that Brendan Nickerson wasn't invited to camp. Looks like he had a decent season in the MJAHL this past year. Put up some points as well as playing physical which we could use as a seventh defencemen.

Read in the online CB Post, that Mason Gray's status is up in the air for personal reasons and Svechnikov is out two weeks with a lower body injury. He might miss the first two games of the Junior World Cup.
AS for tonight's intrasquad - I thought it was a good game and a good reflection of the depth of the organization. I was very impressed with Dubois - he has such a good overall skill set and did look out of place when the play got more physical. On defence, I really like Jeremie Beaudin, he simply looked like a player who is ready. It is always dangerous to read too much into one intrasquad game but it reinforced my thoughts that there are some tough decisions to make for the coaching staff.

It looked to me like he didn't seem to mind sticking his nose in , especially when going to the net . L'atalien kid looked like he might be a good one . Thought Tower would be more of a presence out there .At times I found it kinda boring though .

L' Italien is an interesting case for me - sometimes I really liked him and at times, he looked like someone who isn't quite ready. But again, you can fall into a trap of reading too much from one intrasquad game.

Do you have to pay to get into the intersquad game?

Like what I see in this years squad,of the draftees up front,Dubois and Martineau look really good and should have a real shot at making this team. Colby Tower not showing a whole lot, liked his effort better last year. On the back end, young Beaudoin impresses every time out, looks like he came into camp well prepared, cannot see how he does not make this team. 18 year old Lee Dower really stepped it up last night, skating well, moving the puck well and got involved in some fisticuffs. Probably made a good case for himself last night. Goaltending situation behind Brassard gets even more crowded when the 17 year old Lavalle arives from Sherbrooke, none the less at this point and without seeing Lavalle, I would have to give the edge to Colby Muise. Whwew he ends up I suppose will depend on where the coaching staff feels would be better for his development, although he would not be the first 16 yar old netminder to come in here and make an impact( Fleury,Houle and Roy) immediately come to mind. Some interesting decisions to be made over the next 3-4 days.

I won't be surprised if I'm alone with this but Martineau reminds me of Jodoin.

Ye but when you're thinking of Jodoin, you're probably not remembering his 2010 training camp where he showed some flashes and fans got over-excited. I immediately think of Jodoin in camp when I see Martineau and hear how people talk about him.

Although I am certainly impressed by Martineau's skill and skating, I think it is certainly premature to be stitching a jersey with his name on it yet. There is still a big difference between regular season Q games and an August intrasquad game. I still think there is a good chance he goes back a level for this year but stays in the Eagles future plans. However, he certainly like a good fifth round pick and I guess time will tell what his future lies for this year.
