I guess so for jumping a guy with his back turned to him and was already on the ice... he did real well.

Meier stepping up for Ehlers. Not known as a fighter, he did well. I think he caught Henley by surprise. I'd take Henley 9 times out of 10 if they squared off in a "staged fight". I don't like when a player has to fight after a clean hit. But apparently the Islanders are running Ehlers pretty often tonight, so I don't blame Meier for doing what he did. Shocked he didn't get an instigator.

The way Ehlers cuts across the ice...im surprised hits like that dont happen more often to him.
Hard, clean, open ice hit.
Enjoyable game so far to watch.

I have no idea how we have been shut out as much as we have, because everytime I watch this team, Ehlers and Gadoury stand out as guys constantly creating chances and are the most noticeable guys on either team many times. They just seem to lack finish on a lot of these plays. The way they both can come off the boards looking like they are headed to the point, and then suddenly shift gears and be heading to the net is impressive - but they need to finish more on their wristers or passes.
Meier is really coming along - he is realizing that combination of speed and power in his game.
Good game, back and forth, good goaltending.

Ugh. After lots of highlight reel saves including a toe save seconds before I don't know how it stayed out, PEI score one a flubbed one timer that Fucale would want back. Halifax with tons of PP chances to tie this but couldn't finish on a good chance. Good possession and passing in the zone, but it always seems to end with a low percentage wrist shot. We need some new PP plays where we crash the net for rebounds.
Still, the team is playing pretty well all things considered.

I hadn't seen all of the game before that fight (having been trying to following a bunch of things at the same time). Charlottetown was still taking shots on Ehlers after the fight (Cobbold got a high sticking peanlty). A tough one for Fucale to give up on the CHA 3rd goal.

Gadoury did it once with speed, in getting open, but if someone is able to stand in front and position they could easily tap in pucks as the speed guys draw players to them. One timers have a better chance of going in than the mostly nothing shots the Moose were taking. Bring on Moncton!

Macdonald deserved the first star, a few posts helped but he was solid and in position all night. Zach played great too, then he let in a really bad one which was the game. Macdonald did not give up a softy like that and that was probably the difference.
We had tons of chances, but like the last few games can't finish.
Did not see the Henley hit clearly so cant comment but last time we played Charlottetown they tried to take out Ehlers knee so loved Meier's response. I am thinking the extra ten Meier got was the Toad Thomander factor. That asshole, only penalty he called against Charlottetown (except for delay of game) he gives Ehlers a call for a dive. Wake up the reason he was on the ice was because he was hooked.
But all in all was entertaining game and we where in it till the end. Defense actually seemed to limit the mistakes tonight s that is a positive.
I hope Cam is working the phones. Selling a few players will probably not change what is our fate for this year. What will be left will have just as good a chance of stealing a few wins.

Pretty much sums it up,great job crazyjoe I'm too tired for game recaps tonight but I agree both goalies were great tonight.(I'm also glad that I'm not the only one that thinks Thomander is a toad and a few other things, actually within five mins of heading out of the rink I had 2 people agree with me; he seems to be the only one that gives us unsportsmanlike. Great job by Meier stepping up for his teammate, classless move by Macdonald but I'm not saying Ehlers was in the right either.
Bring on Moncton, more traffic and More finish hopefully Sat night were only 6 points behind Charlottetown.

Great hit for sure, As for the extra shots that might have something to do with last year and the show boating Ehlers did last season in one of the games here. Clean hit for sure not sure why a fight broke out as others said it something that didn't require a scrap although you can look at it the other way as well he was sticking up for his team mate which is good to see,

Not really considering we didn't have a 1st rounder. There were probably 55-60 16yos taken in the 1st round by all CHL teams. 13 of the 19 Q players picked for the U17 were drafted in the 1st round. 6 were drafted in the 2nd round. The fact that Crossley isn't one of those 6 isn't that big of a deal. I think if we had 3 picks in the first 2 rounds and none of them made the World U17, that would be more of a concern. This core of young players we have isn't going to win the Memorial Cup in 3 years... they just aren't that highly-touted. Our rebuild really hasn't started yet. Selling off some of our assets at Christmas will make 2015-16 year one of the rebuild. We should be aiming for 3-4 years after that, which is unfortunate for us fans. But I think that's the reality of the situation, and rushing anything would be disastrous. Well..if we sell off this year, it IS year 1 of a rebuild. I think Joe is right here. This Christmas should be where we start to sell and trying to bring in stud 16 or 17 yo's or high picks. I know people here are going to say it's to early to really tell and say these things, but it's staring to feel like this team is what it is. Have a few very key star guys but there a big drop off in talent after them. Some think Fucale is losing value because of him losing games. That's not the case he is keeping the team in every game and giving the boys a chance to win every night. I really want to see Cam cash in on him but not to the point where he gets greedy and were left with him the rest of the year. I would be happy with what PEI got for Bibeau last year. I would rather a get a top 16yo and a few high picks but I want to see us get something right. Murphy is a guy that I am changing my mind on. I was in the view of if someone blows you away with an offer that's the only way we trade him. Now I feel we should try and move him. He's going to be the best 19yo dmen available. The fact he should be back next year makes him more attractive to teams. I think his value should be around the same as what Graves brought back last year. This brings me to Elhers. There's talk about no trade Clause for him. This could very well be and probably is true. Here's where I don't think it matters. There's is no way Winnipeg would want there top prospect playing on a team that is not really helping his growth. I see Cam going to The Jets and saying I have a deal to move Elhers to a contender but he has a NTC, what are your thoughts? Then if the Jets like the idea of him playing somewhere else the get behind it and tell him and his agent to do it. Especially if that team might be hosting the Mem Cup. Just say. Now here's the next thing that has yet to really be brought up yet. Does anyone know what the talent pool is for this year draft class? Not saying we are going to be looking at the top pick but I so think we will be looking at top 5ish. If that's the case we will have a decent Euro pick this year too, to replace Elhers with. It's the Q's first pick year I do believe, so if we finish bottom 5 in the Q we'd be looking at no worst then the 13th pick. Again a little early but might keeping an eye on the U 17s for some good prospects.

We've scored the least amount of goals in the league, and have allowed the most (tied actually with VD and Gat). Not a good combo.
This year really doesn't mean anything to me, on ice results anyway. It's about getting guys icetime and experience for next year and year after. Guys like Watt, obviously Meier has taken a big step this year, Nauss having a great start to his career. Crossley will be a good player in this league. He's not going to have any impact this year, but that's fine. Get the rookie season over with and he can have a bigger role next year. That's what's important for this year.
And obviously making some trades at xmas to bring in picks and prospects is important too. Nice to still have our 1st this yr lol. We're in Nov and it's a top 3 pick right now. I don't see use making up much ground between now and xmas, and after xmas we'll be worse, so that should be a top 5 pick, at worst. So nice to have. Be nice to grab another one too.

It's one of those situations where I want us to win every game I watch, but ultimately don't mind sitting way down in the standings . I feel despite the lack of wins and goals, I still enjoy watching the team and generally have played entertaining hockey given what we have to work with and the lack of defense. Happy to see Meier looking more involved, faster and confident this year, and Nauss's composure on offense at 16 is fun to watch.
