i hope he's better than Jonathan MacKinnon..... that guy was a plug He is certainly not MacKinnon and lightyears behind Crosby, but he was the CHL scoring champ at 16 so that is nothing to be ashamed of. I would expect around 50 points for Bowers if given a good amount of ice time as a rookie in the Q, not a player who will lead your team but he could provide offensive contribution to a good team. 200 foot game as well. Bowers is a Jeremy Gregoire type of player. He had 30 points at 16 on a good Chicoutimi team. That is what you should be expecting, not a 2nd line center at 16.

Bowers has much more offensive potential than Gregoire had/has. I have watched both players in their Q draft seasons and I have no doubt saying Bowers will put up more points next year than Gregoire had in Chicoutimi. They are both great 2 way centres yes, but Bowers is much more explosive and has better hands and vision. shot is about the same. Overall I would say Bowers is a notch better than Gregoire offensively with slightly worse defensive play.

If he is as good as some are portraying him here, the Titan will grab at #2. All reports indicate that there is not much of a difference between Comtois/Morand/Bowers with Veleno having the most potential. The only difference is that they are different style of players.....not that Bowers is miles ahead of the other two.

I havent seen either in their draft season so I can't compare, but many players dominate the NS Major Midget league and cant carry it over to the Q.

Is Bathurst willing to play the hold out game in order to maximize the return on the asset if he refuses to play there? Tough sell on an already tiny fan base.

Morand will go #2 because he will report, Comtois will go #3 because of Bowers NCAA rumours. At the end of the day not much does separate the 3 players, personally I think Bowers is the best but others have other opinions. All 3 are better offensive players than Gregoire was.

Couturier just mentioned in a radio interview that their mind is set on a player willing to report unless a dramatically good offer popped up in the next hours. What I am saying is that Bowers will probably be a Eagle before being grabbed by SJ. IF it is a fact that Veleno would be the first pick, Victo or CB will not pass the occasion to pick one of the 4 best players available. Even the Islanders would pick him if given the opportunity.

Not many players dominate the way Bowers did at 15. I can't remember the last 15yo to win MVP of the league maybe Sheppard? Duffy? Both of those players had extremely successful QMJHL careers. You are definitely right that not all players translate, but most with Bowers skating/size do. Take Luke Green for example, Bowers looked much better than him as a rookie in midget.

He says Bowers only wants to play for Saint John or Halifax. USHL is still an option if not drafted by those teams.

he's a kid who wants to try to play hockey for a living...drop the attitude/demands and make it work where you are drafted like just about every other person in that draft. If you refuse to report, you shouldn't be allowed to play anywhere. Does he even know what Cape Breton is looking like for the next couple of years?

If there was no doubt Couturier wouldn't be talking about picking the best player who will report, he'd be talking about picking the best player. You've already flip flopped on that based on 1 Couturier interview. Typical.

I am talking about how they did at 16. Balmas had a great season before he came to the Q but it didn't translate right away. Some players take some time to adjust. My calibee point was just pointing out that players who may appear inferior in Quebec could be on par with the stars in Nova Scotia playing weaker competition.

Take the #5 pick next year if you can't cash out on him to 1 of those 2 teams. We don't absolutely need the asset right now, that's a good part of having a lot of depth.

If you refuse to report, you shouldn't be allowed to play anywhere. Does he even know what Cape Breton is looking like for the next couple of years? Here we go... He has options. Should he give up ALL of those options to just report to where the QMJHL thinks he should? He should go to where he feels comfortable. If that's not a CB or Bathurst, then so be it. These kids aren't asking to be drafted by Q teams, it's just the system the leagues play by but the players owe nothing to the league. God knows if they don't perform the league and teams will not owe them anything in return.
