Did it make you feel better watching that game today thinking Sullivan 'deserved' the start? and since his showing wasn't great tonight, does Brassard deserve to start the next game? As bad as Brassard has been, in the short term he gives the Eagles the best chance to win games. Some people are so focused on blaming the goalie that they're forgetting the defense is super young and some of the forwards are not playing well at all. The D is young but it was supposed to be vastly improved by the addition of 2 18yr olds who have been somewhat average to this point. The only defenceman who has shown any consistancy from game to game at all has been Leveille(in my opinion of course). No doubt that has to improve. The problems all relate back to coaching and style. Even with the worst goaltending in the league you should at least show an ability to tighten up with a 1 goal lead when you have the players we do, the fact that we don't tells me the teaching and coaching is lacking. This team has shown very little cohesion to this point and is still very similar to the team we seen early on. As a season goes on a hockey team is supposed to gel and grow together. This team is only growing as individuals and it's showing in the results. WOW Buddy JACK a lot of great points you put in here GOOD on YA

WOW DID I JUST READ THIS RIGHT ? someone finally got their head out of the sand on this site and are telling it how it truly is I said I would be back and here I am. NOW folks I will play this broken record once again in a game of hockey there are 3 fwds 2 def and 1 goalie hmm. I believe they call that a line and having additional lines of FWD`s and def`s you call it a team.
As I have said it before and I`m happy that jamesnorris is saying about the same thing here let`s stop blaming just the goalies to easy to do that and yes we have been spoiled in the past with some tremendous goalie talent who are now in the NHL.
Well that was then and this is today and for the past couple of years the door has been going round and round with one goalie in the other out and well it`s the goalies fault again, let`s go and get another one welllllllll maybe just maybe we should start looking at the complete team and the system/transition game that we have in place GEEZ.
Is it that hard to see that even a 20 year old established NHL draft goalie is having issues like others that have come and gone maybe just maybe if we dissect this on paper possible power house of a team a little more, but NOOOOOO not us Eagles Fan's we just continue to say HEY THE DAMM GOALIES are CR____ well I have seen some not bad goalies come through this team lately and they are doing not that bad elsewhere so MAYBE JUST MAYBE WE SHOULD BE LOOKING SOMEWERE ELSE TO PUT THE BLAME GAME!!!!!! JUST A THOUGHT.........
An .878 save % from a 20yr old goaltender says that he's as much to blame as the team in front of him. Are you forgetting that we know exactly what a #1 goaltender looks like here in Cape Breton? We don't have 1. We have 2 backup calibre goaltenders from what i've seen with my own 2 eyes this season. Does the team need to improve? Absolutely. But the slightest improvement with this team is erased on the next back breaking weak goal. It's been the most common theme to our season. Not just the weak goal, but the absolutely lack of what can be even more important: a big save.(see we can all do that for dramatic effect)To completely give the goalies a pass is a bigger mistake then putting all the blame on them. They need to share that blame as much as anyone. You clearly have your own agenda as you've been trying to give the goalies a free pass the entire time. Those of us paying attention are more then aware that it's a problem at many levels.

There are some big issues with this team. There are issues with the coaching, with the players, the system, lack of closing out games. There is also a problem with the goaltending. With a 3 to 1 lead with a couple of minutes to go in the game the next 3 shots should not go in for an overtime loss. Were there breakdowns and miscues by the defense and forwards, for sure but a big stop every now and then would be nice. Looks like we have not had that this year.

I'm not trying to give the goalies a PASS as you call it far from that I totally agree that the masked men have to pull out some great saves A BIG SAVE as you put it to help keep the team on a high what I'm saying let's not just blame the goalies as I truly believe the issues are deeper than just them for some time now we have had turnovers over turnovers no man on man defence in our zone major breakdowns on the back checking so what I am getting at with the skilled team we have are some basic back to the board on ice practice and video sessions to help these young athletes understand that there is 2 ends of a hockey rink and how to play in both zones effectively and then maybe we could be pulling in the same direction. Again Jack was not trying to get your blood pressure up I was as you just trying to point out that A TEAM is made up of DEF, FWDS, Goalies and oh yeah we should maybe say the start comes from the Direction COACHES

Consesus is that this team has some serious issues and as in most cases, that falls squarely at the feet of the coach. I would think that at this point you would have to consider this team as serious underachievers and across the board would probably win the vote for the most disappointing team in the league vat this point. Another couple of weeks of this indifferent play and this team will be looking WAY up at the teams in front of them with little or no chance of catching up. A 10 or 12 point spread is awfully hard to make up in any sport. These problems started in our first round exit last year in the playoffs when we were thumped by Gatineau. They should have not been six or seven goals a game better than us,but our kids were ill-prepared for thaat series and it showed in the results.Blame it on being young or whatever you wish, but we were badly outplayed and outcoached.

I am not by no means defending brassard here but you cannot say one goaltender is better than the other. Yes we let Chase go but since he is having success now does not mean he would be having succes with a CBSE jersey on. Goaltenders are only as good as the defensive play in front of them. This team is in a predicament now because we traded for a 20 yo goalie who had good numbers and wins on a good team with the remparts. Sullivan on the other hand was a fill in last year on the Titan when they dealt Macdonald he was a quick fix for half a season, he not capable in the QMJHL. The biggest issue I have with this goalie situation is we gave away a PPG player to keep one of them. Brassards pitiful stats are gonna have to improve or the staff need to bring someone in who can. This is going to be a crucial time for MA Dumont because all the good work he has done in the years building up to this year he is going to right off this season over an overage goaltender. Our Dmen are young and still learning but we must get a goaltender at the deadline that can make them first saves and not let tricklers in that are going to deflate a team. I believe you will likely not see sullivan with the team after xmas we will ride out brassard and our xmas acquisition.

Alright bud, no need to yell... I think we are all disappointed by how the whole team has played and I've stated that. What I think people are disappointed is were giving up 5-6 goals on a regular basis with a 20 year old goaltender in nets...

I keep hearing that our defence is young, when do they become veterans? the guys that get the lions share of the playingtime are all in third year while two are in the second year.Check the rosters of some of the other teams, some of the teams near the top have 17 and eighteen year olds on defence as well. Also, the guys who get the lions share of time on our backend are all high end draft picks, either first or second rounders. I understand that sometimes it takes al bit longer for defencemen to develop, but do they get a lot better and become veterans just because they turn 19?

Acquiring guys like Deschamps, MacIntyre and Leveille was supposed to speed up the teams progress while the Bell's and Lalonde's came along and rather then speed up the progress it's made it go in reverse. How could this team possibly be worse then last years team was at this point? That alone tells you there's just something off with this group. Saint John certainly doesn't look like a young group when they came in with Zboril, Green, Chabot, and Leblanc.

It seems like some of you had unrealistic expectations for the acquired D-men.
Duncan MacIntyre was on the bottom pair in Quebec playing sheltered minutes. Jonathan Deschamps was on a brutal team getting lit up every night.
They need time to adjust to their new roles as well. Leveille got a taste of it for the 2nd half of last season and it's been said, he's been one of the bright spots on the point.

I dont think there were any unrealistic expectation. Acquiring 2 veteran defencemen is supposed to be a good thing for a CHL team.

Not saying CB have to go for it this year but what is going on now is the reason teams have to go for it when the situation presents itself. You just never know how things are going to unfold even when it looks like trades should make for a great season. Add the Sags and Islanders to that. Bailing out(selling) may just restart the whole process from scratch.

They brought in MacIntyre & Deschamps and lost 3 veterans in overagers Beaudry & Woodworth + 19 year old NHL pick Hache. I'm not exactly sure how you saw that as CB upgrading their defense.

What does who we lost have to do with the expectation being placed on who was brought in? Every team loses some good players every season. I think the improvement in every returnee plus what was added was expected by everyone to result in an improvement. Its interesting though how you set your expectations for players and teams based on hindsight.

If you're not saying worse than last years team, than I have no idea what you're talking about to begin with. The group of D are younger, less experienced, and they brought in less than they lost. Its interesting though how you say I set my expectations for players and teams based on hindsight but still try to disagree with the fact that this years group of D are younger than last years group of D lol I'm sure if I said my shirt was blue you'd tell me I was wrong and then go on to explain why the shirt isn't red
