Something I was wondering last night... why the boo birds for Tkachev? There's NO WAY we would boo Tkachev. Must have been those fans on the Facebook page expressing their displeasure towards the drunken idiots that run this team.

I heard boo's on 1-2 occasions but really nothing substantial, maybe 5-10 people at most. The bigger reaction was when he got hit in the corner there was loud cheers. There seemed to be a rumor that he asked for a trade, I never read anywhere that was confirmed so I see no need to boo the kid.

He mysteriously was out injured after he was benched a few times in his final few games ... for a lack of effort and stupid selfish penalties. Last night ... he started out very strong in the game but seemed to disappear as the game went on ... only noticing him on the PP. Looked like the same thing we saw here this year ... but he kept his stick in check. The kid has great skill ... can be a difference maker ... but he has to realize it won't come to him without hard work ... and he has to realize that he'll be a target and can't react to that. He worked his ass off in the playoffs last year and had a great series ... so great that he got an invite to Edmonton.

Shannon told us that both he and Malatesta would have been 1st rounders if there wasn't the NCAA cloak of suspicion surrounding them. I'm starting to believe that. I agree with you on Murphy ... as he has improved his conditioning he has really started to show his talent. I'm starting to see flashes of Keith Yandle in Malatesta ... love watching him skate the puck. His 1st 10-15 games were rough ... but he has really taken off since then. There is a lot of propaganda in there, guy trying to save his job. Murphy a 2nd rounder and Mala a 3rd would be more realistic. Not every good Q player is a 1st round pick. Malatesta should be a good #3-4 guy at 19. Defensive game is still an adventure but he is good with the puck and can throw a big hit. Murphy can be really good but it's all dependant on his work ethic. How do you figure that on Murphy? Aside from the high picks Laberge and Dubois I'd say Murphy stacks up pretty well so far against any of the other forwards taken in the 1st round. While I agree there's often a lot of propaganda BS surrounding players that the Cats get to report, I do seem to recall outside sources calling him a 1st round talent.

What happened to that other Russian kid we had a few years back that didn't make out here, think we traded him to now defunct Maine(Lewiston)team. Yes, I noticed that as well(1st period play) but he didn't seem to play a lot second period and was kind of invisible. I also heard from well known sources he wanted out of Moncton upon return from the NHL stint.

The work ethic thing doesn't help. maybe that will change but showing up to camp 10lbs overweight and out of shape isn't great. In terms of him vs other 1st rounders, it's hard to fully judge because some of them are less physically developed. It's the Henley thing, when kids are bigger it's easier to produce at a young age, but a later developing kid may be better at 18 or 19. There are exceptions, where kids have just had a growth spurt and are still gaining coordination like Myers(RN). Steve Bernier was able to dominate the Q at 16 and 17 because his body was fully developed but he also paeked earlier because of that vs a Patrice Bergeron who was in MAAA at 16 and pretty good at 17 and in the NHL at 18 and 20...turned out to be a better pro.

He was seen with his arm in a sling after getting hit In the corner in a game against Charlottetown. I'm not debating there could be issues behind the scenes there, but he was injured, whether he was ready to come back and then there were further problems certainly remains to be seen. He was definitely benched multiple times this season. I feel like this situation with Quebec will go one of 2 ways. He will be very successful once he gels with the team and return to the player we saw at the start of the season, or he will continue to have issues and end up either released or go back home to Russia.

Didn't Murphy suffer an injury late in the season or a month before camp and that was why he wasn't as good of game shape ? I really don't see any effort issues from him, hes looked great. Hope he gets top 6 minutes with Barbashev out

Maybe a few up where he was sitting but I couldn't hear it. The rink was not booing him ... like PK Subban gets in Boston. Don't listen to our PBP guy ... I don't.

The away PBP is never in sync with the game.
