Rough summer for the Cats, none of the big name "NCAA" guys are showing up so far...according to the camp list... No Petruzzelli Janzen Jurusik O'Leary Crossman Gendron MacLeod Dawe RJ Murphy Koopman Florentino Krys McInnis. Poirier is also not on the list. Trying to figure who else is on the Q site and not on the Cats 54 player list... Breakdown is 10 goalies 26 forwards and 17 defensemen. Numbers don't add up! The press release mentions still waiting on some out of territory guys so maybe that explains Janzen and I don't see Brandon Washer who I thought was coming too. Have to admit I'm stunned by this training camp roster. Looks like they accomplished absolutely nothing during the off-season. 2014 draft picks not showing up - McInnis (4th round), RJ Murphy (6th round), Chad Krys (7th round), Matt Koopman (8th round) 2015 - Michael O'Leary (3rd round), Ethan Crossman (3rd round), Adam Dawe (7th round), Keith Petruzelli (10th round) Well at least they convinced DeStefani to show up

Great reason to drink tonight......

Seriously, if they can't get any of these kids to show then they need to stop wasting picks on them. Top 5 picks are usually where you find impact players and the fact that they've now seemingly wasted 3 picks in those rounds in the last 2 years is an indication that they should change their strategy.

Disappointed in the return. Since the pick is in 2017 I wonder whether it is conditional on him reaching some milestone (like playing on the team for two years) and maybe it turns into a higher pick.

This was a move for Alex not so much the Wildcats. If a kid isn't in your plans , it's nice to move him to a team that he would see ice time on. They must not have seen him as a top six player this season and he isn't suited for a bottom six role , it's that simple. As an 18 year old , this is the most important year for the kid in his situation , very slim to make the Q next year as a 19 year old "rookie"...

The roster is not exactly overflowing with top 6 forwards. After Johnson Smith Askew and Garland, the rest is pretty weak or unproven in terms of top 6 production. Johnson and Smith are 3rd liners on a contender but could put up 50pts on a 2nd line with PP time.

Today's article mentions that Shannon feared they wouldn't have room for Jacob in the top six. It then goes on to say that the Klima's are one of the leading candidates for the second line. Unless they've made VAST improvements over last season I'm really dumbfounded by all this. Does Rumble or Shannon owe Petr Klima a favour?

I hope when Hodge talks about the training camp roster he doesn't just avoid talking about who isn't coming. At least get Shannon to talk about how none of the NCAA guys are showing up. I don't understand how Shannon thinks the Klimas can play second line when they weren't even good enough to play 4th line on a mid pack team that London was last year and had disappointing stats playing in the NAHL. Hopefully they have improved and prove me wrong but to have them pencilled in as a top option on the second line seems to be a bit premature especially when you have a player like Leger who scored 25 points in the league last year on the team. Maybe with the Jacob trade Cyr doesn't end up back in midget after all. I noticed Washer had been removed from the wildcats roster a while ago but I thought it was just a typo. Maybe he changed his mind and doesn't want to come since there is no guarantee he would get more than 3rd pairing ice time.

That training camp roster is already out of date. Crossman signed with the wildcats and will play with them this year.
When did Rumble leave for the Ivan Hlinka? The T&T article has a picture of him with Crossman so it seems like this may have already been done and may have waited to draw attention to training camp, smart move for PR
One more voice in Dawes ear about playing for the wildcats.

At least it improves their draft score the last 2 years from a D to a D+. Sweet!

Well it's a start. Hopefully there will be more good news coming.
I had heard earlier in the summer that O'Leary would be coming to camp for a look. Maybe that's still the case, but it will be a bit later on? It makes sense in a way because if a high end player like him is going to come for 48 hours it might as well be after they've whittled the roster down a bit.

I hear it was 50/50 but O'Leary has decided to go the US route. Very close decision from what I heard.
