It's pretty sad that the fans here won't support the team unless they've proven they are a winner. I've been there through the shitty years and the team right now has a huge upside. Maybe after next year the fans will start to show up again, although those fans are only wagon jumpers. There's no money here to be spent on watching a bad hockey team. It's not that the fans HERE won't support the team unless they're winning, the fans in almost every CHL market only show up in big numbers when their team is winning. I'm not seeing the huge upside you are. I see upside that's tempered by having an average coach. But we're losing our work ethic after the next couple of weeks in terms of our graduating 20's and the upgrades to try and win next year will come at the expense of the 1st rounders we have. After next year we go back to being average more then likely so not sure why you'd expect the fans to show up at that point. Cape Breton hockey fans are no different then everywhere else...give them a good team and the team will sell more tickets then a bad team will. I just hope a player like Farrell doesn't leave junior hockey after 5 years here and not have a playoff victory to show for his efforts.

If the community is willing to jam the BAYplex out Glace Bay (last night) for Jr.B than there's no reason C200 shouldn't be filled for some playoff hockey. You think you can compare Jr B to the Q? How much to get into the Bayplex last night vs C200 next week for a potential 3 games in 4 nights? It'd be $100 just for me and my girlfriend to get tickets to the 3 Eagle games next week. How much of a financial investment are Jr B fans making? You can never compare the 2.

I was saying if the community can pack a rink for Jr.B hockey than they should be able to pack a rink for QMJHL playoff hockey. Keep up the positivity Jack

The so called "board" has failed time and time again to bring someone in here who can coach. Someone new and fresh that is not a former Q coach may be something we need. We have been saying this all year JB, but I honestly think he has next year too prove himself before there is a chance of a change.

As far as people here having no money to spend on watching a bad hockey team, where does the money come from to watch if and when we have a good team? That just doesn't make any sense. I agree with you 100% about the coaching, I've said it many times here that he is a terrible coach. As far as the upside goes, we have a great young core here and a pile of draft picks. Dumont has done a very good job (goaltending aside) of assessing great talent and has the assets to attain it. Unfortunately like I have said as long as he's at the heals I don't think we'll make it very far no matter the lineup.

People who may not have the money to see a movie every week will find a way to spend 40+ dollars on taking their family to see the new avengers movie when it comes out because its something that excites them and feels like can't miss. Its not that the money is "not there" its that people are carefully spending on things more important to them. Someone whos been disappointed by the team might decide to spend that 1000 bucks for season tickets on an extra vacation. The people who are spending the money now are the people who feel as though the money they spend on seeing junior hockey for 6 months is important to them. Most diehards will continue to pay for tickets because seeing disappointing hockey is better than seeing no hockey at all.

Keep up the positivity Jack You can't compare the two for skill level you are right. There are people around here that think High School hockey equals Q level. They must be blind. However....The two are not comparable when looking at capacity. The Bayplex has room for 800. Centre 200's is around 4500 I believe. Maybe 5000 now with the upgraded boxes. The Bayplex may be full but that is peanuts compared to Centre 200. The 2500 that come our for the playoff games would be too much for the Bayplex so the two really do not come close.

This is the solution but I tell you I doubt they even started to look. Or think of it. They just look at guys that have Q experience that were fired recently....

The little money that is around here is budgeted. Plus the fact the game is thru the week and the reputation that the team sucks is strong throughout town. I know you are out of town but that is how it is. Nice pic by the way. Now one of the Halifax fans just need to make one with curling involved.

Interesting comments on why the fans are or are not turning out for the games. I believe there are two major factors at play here: one is the downturn in the economy and the other is the on ice product(or lack thereof).A decline in attendance is not unusual in any sport at any level, give the fans a poor team and they will stay away, give them a competitive team and the fans will show up. This organization has been a nickel and dime operation for years now and its about time this organization took a serious look at how this team is run. I have been in all the Q rinks in Atlantic Canada and a number of arenas in Quebec. To be honest, if I were to rate these different venues on the bang you get for your buck as far as entertainment is concerned, from concessions, building cleanliness to the on ice product, this organization would ,IMO, come in at or near the bottom.Sad to say so, but that's the way I see it.
