Care to Expand on that notion ? I dont trust him as a coach as a fan. As a parent i would not want him to be the one between my kid and the NHL when the other options are coaches like Flynn and Ducharme or the NCAA. People keep making it Iowa vs CB when its really Dumont vs the coaches elsewhere in my opinion. You don't have Andre Cote on Speed Dial do yah Johnny ?

The Eagles sent a letter to the league, Shane Bowers will remain Eagles property until he is ineligible to play in the Q. Bowers will not be traded ! Lol the drama with this stuff is hilarious. Tomorrow we can send them a different letter. If we wasted the 4th overall pick in a deep draft and dont manage to win anything then our organization is not as far removed from the Mario Durocher and Paul MacDonald years as we thought. Their biggest mistakes were evaluating themselces against themselves and not their competiton. Those kinds of fuck ups can literally cost you a franchise in the long term if its not fixed.

Not many 19-20 year olds are smart with money but you make a good point. It really comes down to his future plans. A lot of former hockey players make more working in trades in Alberta then they ever would as a teacher or other professions the CIS would prep them for. ECHL Kids are billeted ? Loads of Former CIS and Major Junior Players working in Fort Mac . Some are University Graduates that went to Trade School "after" finishing their eligibility . One of my best buddies works with a guy who played down in Texas in the CHL . Got ataste of Tar Sands Money and hung up the skates . Ryan Sparling?

I don't believe an ECHL contract voids it. The compensation is draft picks according to Pavlov. Obviously Moynihan would be a piece of the deal and not the entire package, but remember the alternative is wait a year and pick at #9....not the best option IMO. no it's not the alternative is keep Bowers rights until a suitable deal is found and use your other assets to acquire the pieces you need to make a run now only Moose fans seem to think Moynihan is the only alternative

You maneuver for Ranger knowing as a 20, there's the chance he'll turn pro - as Dumont is quoted in today's Herald, you simply move on. Same for Bowers - they knew beforehand he wasn't coming so you still draft the best player & when the reality comes home, you makes moves at your earliest best for the team. Striking back at a kid when you were forewarned isn't looking after team progress.

My decade plus long argument for this stuff is to focus on those kids who do want to play here. When you gamble on a Roy or Bowers you have to cash out. Time is on the side of the 15yr old kid regardless of the opinion of the team, the player, and his parents/advisors.

Not Bowers.

Two recent Hab Draft Picks changed their mind after being drafted . Tinordi was committed to Notre Dame and McCarron was committed to Michigan but they were steered towards the OHL with London after becoming Habs Picks . That's London Knights though big difference

Have to agree with the comment on keeping your kid away from Dumont. IMHO, he is a terrible coach and he has proven that over and over again since coming here. The Eagles could assemble a team of stars and with him behind the bench, you win zero. If Ron Choules is the worst coach to come through here, this guy is nipping at his heels as a close second.

Add to the fact that CB just lost a 20yo Centre who was expected to bring an offensive game to the top 6. The compensation for that happening is reported to be draft picks, not another 20 to fill that spot. I've said it time and time again that I don't think Saint John will offer much , since they are stacked going forward even without Bowers. That leaves Halifax and Moncton in my opinion and Halifax is in sell mode right now and currently have a 20yo centre who would fill the needs of this season. I don't think CB will contend with SJ the 2 seasons after this one, so you may as well go for it now. Those compensation picks won't help this season, Moynihan will.

We have too many draft picks to not be able to move comp picks if we really wanted to. Picks are just placeholders for other assets in this league.

A lot of NHL Teams would rather see their Draft Picks play Major Junior instead of College , their theory is that it prepares you better for the pro game . So he might kick around the States for a couple of years and this mess could flare up again . Blackhawks tend to take lots of college players. They have time to become men and show that they deserve a contract. Same for their international players. Lots of junior players never amount to anything and get paid anyway. High end ones make it anyway they go.

If indeed Halifax is in sell mode, shouldn't be a big issue to get a deal done. Halifax have assets(plural) that Cape Breton would be interested in. I don't think Monighan for Bowers straight up will do it. If you want a high end player, you have to be willing to pay the going price. I guess it depends on how badly you want that high end player.

Moynihan only keeps getting mentioned because Cry Baby Bowers will only play for 1 of 3 Teams .....who are Saint John's 20's ?......Who are Moncton's ? Any Teams from Quebec sniffing around Moynihan ? Can't help but wonder why ?High End Player .......jeesh....
